18. Well, let's see, all us poor people usually
get paid on the first and 15th right? Makes sense to me, jack up the prices for payday and rape some more of us.

24. Are you kidding?
We were getting fricking robbed! What we needed to do was jawbone those Arabs and show them who's boss, maybe with a war. Things are much better now that prices adjusted for inflation are lower than in 1981 or something and we have freedom.

do I even need to put :sarcasm:

22. Perhaps it's time to stop urban sprawl and make our towns and cities livable places
where we aren't so dependent on cars.

Oil is a finite resource. Even if the companies were selling it at cost, the price is only going to rise over the course of the next few decades. We need to start fixing things now if we're going to adapt.

bend over here it comes again.

As long as we buy it, they will sell it to us for all that they can. I'm not advocating "pump and runs", but as long as we bend over, they'll continue to cram it up our bums.

26. do you know why....
....gasoline is so high?....because the oil companies have seen the 'green'....

....have you noticed how all these polluting fossil-fuel corporate giants have all gone 'green' lately?....they're nature-loving tree-hugging environmentalist now; usurping the 'green' ideals....they've fond religion, they've seen the light....they're using their obscene profits to buy public love cloaked in 'green'....

....'green' isn't their enemy any longer, now that there's 'green' to be made manipulating 'green' economics and politics....$3.459, $4.459, $5.459, $6.459 doesn't really matter as long as it's 'green'....you just can't be 'mean' to the 'green' and remain in American politics for very long....

....dig deep folks, the Cavalry ain't coming....

27. Hmmm. I also wonder
if rising gas prices are somehow tied to widespread opposition to the war and Bushco's disastrous approval ratings. Opposition to Bush and Cheney would seem to imply opposition to their policies that favor their old buddies in Big Oil. Maybe we're being punished...

32. When I drove home last evening I saw 3.17 in Indy
am I going to get an ugly shock when I go to work this morning? Or was this a regional jump? Only will be able to tell in an hour or so.

Prices here have been bumping up and down daily for the past three weeks.

34. feels like a crap shoot when it is time to fill up
per which day, which station, etc. Thankfully I am in a Prius and use half the gas I used to - and am more able to play the "wait game" per filling up.

I have to say, there is less uniformity in prices of late in circle city. Almost like the bouncing is so frequent that the specific collusion (we all raise to x price at the same time) is a little less coordinated; though the big collusion (the range of the jump up) is certainly still in working force.
