Once again, Miami is the road rage capital
Houston takes 11th spot on the list

By SARAH LARIMER
Associated Press

MIAMI — For the second consecutive year, rude drivers have earned Miami the title of worst road rage city in a survey released Tuesday.

Houston earned the 11th position. The Dallas-Fort Worth area earned number 21.

Miami drivers said they saw others slam on their brakes, run red lights and talk on cell phones, according to AutoVantage, a Connecticut-based automobile membership club.

Other cities near the top of the rude drivers list were New York, Boston, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C.

The most courteous drivers were in Portland, Ore.; Pittsburgh; the Seattle-Tacoma area; and St. Louis.

1. More mass transit, less cars.
I can't really say it any more simpler than that.

2. They need a radio station playing "In the Air Tonight" 24/7 to calm people down when they need it
even when the drums kick in its still rockingly soothing.

8. Perfect match! How childish can one man be?
The people behind his father look very solemn, very quiet. They probably never expected to see a grown man acting like that.

6. Maybe it's the retired folks going 30 mph on the freeway.
We need driving tests every year after the age of 65.
My grandmother renewed her license through the mail at 90. The family, not the state had to take her driving privileges away.
Granny is still going strong at 97. Her grandkids driver her around and help with the shopping. If it was up to the state she would still be allowed to drive.

7. Ha ha that's a funny picture.
Both drivers deserved to be in that predicament.

I think Dallas should have been ranked higher. Hateful people won't let you change lanes. Boston is appropriately ranked. It's kill or be killed but they do yield for pedestrians. In DC you must tailgate bigtime or you will be destroyed by an endless herd of cars squeezing into the one and a half car length in front of you on the Beltway.

11. In another 15 or 20 years Miami will be part of the Atlantic anyway.
There are just too many people trying to cram into that small strip of land next to the Everglades. It's mainly the spanish speakers that refuse to spread out and assimilate. It's like some small pocket of South America they don't want to leave. It will all be over soon enough.

16. Portland??
They may not be openly into "road rage", but they are VERY passive-aggressive (a latent road rage) and stupid. As for Seattle... it would help if they could at least hit the speed limit once in awhile, on the rare occasion traffic ever clears up - they share Portland's passive-aggressive tendencies.

I commute in L.A. every day, and we have our fair share of idiots, aggressive speeders, and the like... but I shudder when I see an Oregon plate. San Diego drivers are more aggressive and dangerous than L.A. though. Orange County is also bad - all those Republicans make for predictably self-centered driving habits. L.A. has more idiot drivers than aggressive ones. Partially due to cell phones, and partially due to just the ordinary Dumb All Over behavior you get in sheer density when you drive in the second most-populated city in the U.S.

The worst drivers outside of the Northwest I have encountered have to be in St. Louis and Phoenix though. Phoenix drivers make San Diego drivers look downright timid.
