Rick Scott (r-FL) pledges to drug test welfare recipients
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/news_politics/2010/08/scotts-4-1-million-ad-buy-drug-test-welfare-recipients-and-mccollums-a-taxer.html

'Fresh off his Miami debate and campaign-finance court victory, Republican gubernatorial hopeful Rick Scott has new ads up that blast Bill McCollum for voting in Congress to raise taxes (no joke) and another that pledges to drug-test welfare recipients.

Thanks to a federal appeals court ruling last week, Scott can blow through the $24.9 million campaign-spending limit without handing a dollar-for-dollar public-funding match to McCollum, so the ad blitz is expected to only intensify heading up to the Aug. 24 primary.

This week, Scott resumed his full-frontal ad attack, with $2.1 million spent on television by his campaign committee while his 527 “Let’s Get to Work” is spending another $2 million — that’s $4.1 million this week.
McCollum, meanwhile, is barely holding a TV presence, reserving about $1 million in cable from his campaign account through the next three weeks, and $720,000 in TV this week from the 527 funded with the help of House Speaker-designate Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, and Senate President-designate Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Island.'

This welfare queen, ripoff artist actually has a shot at becoming Floriduh's next governor!

His stance on the ALL issues are far-right, backwards and half-assed.

6. has anyone thought about the fallout...?
I've heard this meme thrown about for some time now, and I just keep thinking of all those who are self-medicating for various depressions and psychological issues (especially those that come with poverty- ptsd, abuse, sexual abuse, etc...)
so if all thsoe people got their benefits yanked because they have these problems, then they end up stealing or prostituting or ahwtnot to fund their addictions, and it just exacerbates the poverty/crime issues...

when will people in power learn that punishment doesn't work, therapy and medical attention are immeasurably valuable in these situations, especially when most everyone is depressed about jobs, etc...I know i have been drinking more lately myself. as bad as i know it is, i am just depressed, and jobsearching makes me feel that much worse.

8. Rick Scott is a human Cock Roach.. beyond despicable...
His campaign ads also say he wants to bring Arizona's Immigrations Law to Florida. Just Great! (not)

He is using every cheap below-the-belt Campaign ad trick ever devised in politics.

It's hard to believe that voters in Florida can't see thru this guy..?

9. That will cost more than any of the alleged welfare fraud taking place
Texas did the same thing with fingerprinting of welfare recipients. A private company got a juicy government contract to do the fingerprinting and the state found exactly nine (count em', NINE) fraudulent claimants.

10. you get fingerprinted in NY too. frankly i find it humiliating enough just asking for help
but being digitally fingerprinted too. i understand it, but it is still humiliating. why don't they take our dna too. i imagine that is coming at some point.
