I sure don't. And some of these folks are plenty conservative on other issues and voted for Bush and McCain.

This is why in the long-run (hopefully not too long) I am optimistic about the future.

15. Way too many where I live
Red Hell

The kids don't really know why they are opposed to marriage equality, but they are passionate that it is wrong.

Some people just hate and any excuse will do. Sadly, where I live, that is the norm.

4. You're kidding, right?
You clearly haven't been listening to under-30's, if you think that's the case.

And you really haven't been listening to over-30's, if you think we're against gay marriage.

There are liberals and conservatives in every generation. Always has been, always will be.

6. yeah, but the percentage of those supporting gay rights increases with younger generations
of course there will be those that still oppose it.

just as it's the oldest people who tend to oppose it. but there are some among that group that support it also.

7. A few, but they do have the decency to be a little ashamed of themselves.
So, that's good. It means they know they're wrong. First step to fixing it.

well, he doesn't necessarily oppose it I guess, but he's not very supportive either. He says that states should have the right to decide, rather than viewing it as a human right.

9. sure, but even among those who do, most don't seem all that passonate about it
there are a few exceptions, but even the ones against it don't have it high on their priority list.

11. I have an employee whose high school daughter
took the pro-gay marriage side in a classroom debate. She was the only one who would do it. The students booed her and made fun of her when she was speaking and the teacher who is very conservative would not even try to enforce any sort of decorum while she spoke. She was still in tears when she got home. This was in a rural county bordering the Chicago Suburbs.

18. That's abuse and teacher misconduct....
I had a lot of successes in my teaching, but none better than a kid who told me that she always felt safe in my classroom... nobody could bully her or belittle her opinions.

Having been a Marine before I was a teacher made things a little easier in that department for me.

who are against marriage equality are self-loathing gays who will finally come out in their late 20's and 30's?
