1. I was so hoping for a woman to take over an evening news broadcast...
...but Katie Couric was so absolutely wrong for the position. There were so many great women choices out there for the position but CBS went for "Cute & Perky" I guess in hopes to sugar-coat the news for Americans.

This poor choice by CBS means it'll be another 1-2 decades until someone tries again to put a woman in charge of the evening news.

19. But Amanpour reports the news
And not just the spin, so she would never get an anchor position with a major network.

2. LOL- Lesson no. 1:
Do not use focus groups to determine what kind of news they'd "like to see" (translation: something soft and aquishy).

16. Lesson #2 - don't give media people who already have a national soapbox
(read: RIGHTIE) yet another soapbox ("free speech segment") to pontificate about how they don't have a national soapbox to get their message out ...

But that's not saying very much. :)

11. Shouldn't it be "couric is annoying"?
I always thought "couric's" is possessive.

Any grammar pundits out there?

13. I think it's a contraction
Where Couric's is for Couric is. The same as it's is for it is.

9. Katie was such....
a gross choice...a bad bad bad mistake from the start. Old and cute does not translate to newsperson. She shoulda stayed where she was- where she could flash a little thigh now and then and people would think how cute... she is not a news person.

18. I knew she was a poor choice right from the beginning
How is it all these so called "brilliant" people could make such a blunder in picking her? This isn't Katie's fault it's the people who thought she would bring in ratings. She has a morning show personality NOT a news anchor personality. Cute and bubbly and serious news, clash!

There are many other women who would have been perfect in that position.
