My word on the overturning of Prop 8
Edited on Thu Aug-05-10 11:36 AM by kevinbgoode
Well, I can't help it, but I've had the most fun this morning in some "comments" forums. . .especially with the wailings and the whinings of the conservatives who can't sleep at night without special lighting to protect them from this week's boooo-gy-Man.

And I have to admit, this is one of the few times when I'm quite impressed with my prowess in engaging these people on this issue. . .so much so that I'm gonna share a couple of my comments:

"******** sez:“I will observe a gay person’s right to marry when they can have a natural, biological child of their own with their partners, without help from artificial means.”

OMG…well, let the world end tonight! ****** won’t “recognize” the marriage rights of some people until they can have a natural, biological child of their own with their partners. Well, let’s all rush to the nursing home and stop those octogenarians to HALT their recitation of marriage vows, cuz ****** sez they don’t meet his personally dictated standards. In fact, let’s let everyone decide on personally selected standards to recognize ANYONE’s marriage. . .meaning, if I think a bodybuilder shouldn’t be with some obese person, I can refuse to recognize it, cuz I just think it is “icky” or I’ve started a church down the road that dictates that I have to hate on the bodybuilder.

Heck, better yet. . .I won’t recognize the “natural” marriage of anyone who requires one half of the relationship paint their face, shave most of their body, and appear to be a different human species in order to get the other one to reproduce. Or…or anyone who passes gas and calls it “foreplay.”

and, omg. . .I really was trying to make a point, even if this looks a bit like I was doin' some straight bashing. . .so be forgiving :):

****** sez:“Okay, sparky settle down. We get it, you hate conservatives, you hate people that go to church and apparently you have a real issue with women who wear makeup.”

Actually, I kinda figure that these comments are filled daily by rightwingers screaming “the liberals this” and “the liberals that”…so we needed more balance. I mean, conservatives aren’t the only ones allowed by God to demonize others, are they?

And I ain’t got any issue with women wearing makeup. . .but since conservatives are so dependent upon public symbols in order to make sense of things, it just is fun to point out just how they enjoy sexually charging society already with their own cultural norms. I mean, seriously. . .assigning CLOTH to a gender role? Or teasing hair? Or painting a face? And then run around telling everyone how “natural” their heterosexual culture is? Ya got half the population running around everyday looking as unnatural as possible and the other half not able to get an erection if the first half doesn’t do the unnatural stuff.

I ain’t hatin’. . .I’m laughing.

1. Very clever. I'm smiling - but I know your readers can't - so I'll laugh some more - for them.

5. As part of a CF hetero marriage
I'm wondering this myself. Are they going to kick Mr. Laurel off my health insurance since we're not really married according to these folks?

6. One more example of the bizarro, alternate plane of reality on which they live...
and from which they spew all this ignorant vitriol

4. Your straight "bashing" was right on the mark
and the truth can never be offensive. Oh, there are times we don't like to hear it, but once we get used to the idea, it's pretty funny.

The great Roseanne Barr said, "At some point, every woman realizes she's married to a recliner chair that burps."

What the suburban right wing thinks is normal is extremely abnormal. You pointed that out beautifully.
