D.C. Madam: "10, 20, 50, 100 names of people who hold the public trust and therefore violated it"

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18664289/site/newsweek/

<snip>

Palfrey: I have nothing, I have nothing. So that's reason No. 1. Reason No. 2 is (Sibley) and I have gone through the many weeks and months here, and we have come to realize between ourselves after many hours of conversations and e-mails and discussions with others that we are almost holding responsibility, in many ways, to not have the wholesale slaughter of 10,000 names, but to disclose perhaps, or let others disclose through investigation, 10, 20, 50, 100 names of people who hold the public trust and therefore violated (it) in some manner or shape or form here. We couldn't have asked for a better example than Mr. Tobias, who is (on the) one hand preaching abstinence and trying to rid the world of this scourge called prostitution yet is practicing in real life the exact opposite of what he preaches.

2. Only one problem with her plan.
She gave the phone numbers to the corporate media. Big mistake. If she wants those names exposed she needs to give them to political bloggers or to a real journalist like Greg Palast. ABC sat on the story like they sat on the Palast story about Rove's E-mails. ABC is the best friend a dirty hypocritical politician ever had.

4. I have mixed feeling about this. I think Brian Ross is a good
investigating reporter. Remember Foley? IMO, the higher ups shutdown his investigation.

13. only 20% given to ABC
the Guardian reports:
"Palfrey is not giving up. She recently turned over about 20 per cent of her client list to ABC News."

3. ABC News last week decided the "Escort" story wasn't as newsworthy after all and
decided that the ABC news network would no longer provide the names to the list of clients supplied by Palfrey. (guess she has never heard of reverse-number phonebook)

"We couldn't have asked for a better example than Mr. Tobias, who is (on the) one hand preaching abstinence and trying to rid the world of this scourge called prostitution yet is practicing in real life the exact opposite of what he preaches."

Hmmm....I thought she maintained that it was all legal fantasy? :shrug:

10. I caught that too...
I wish she'd turn the phone records over to us! I found a couple names when I did a search from the 1996 list from her site... no big names that I could tell, but found a trail that led to Tampa Fla, and it makes me wonder if this wasn't a nationwide ring, instead of just in DC.

14. Have You Guys Heard About THIS ???
Cheney and the DC Madam's Cookie Jar
By Dr. SUSAN BLOCK

<snip>

Recently, we learned that the tides of Hookergate II. rise much higher than we'd realized; that is, the Vice (as in "criminal") President patronizes prostitutes. This would be one big yawn; after all, prostitution should be decriminalized anyway, so who cares what this half-dead man does or did with his pallid little pecker? EXCEPT that this is the dick of Dick Cheney, Evil Puppet-Master of the Fascist Perma-War Universe, Chickenhawk Slaughterer of the Innocents, aimlessly shooting at hapless civilians, from children in Iraq to his own hunting buddy in the woods. With that in mind, we go to the report of my fellow Counterpunch writer and former U.S. Naval Officer Wayne Madsen:

"WMR has confirmed with extremely knowledgeable CIA and Pentagon sources that the former CEO who is on Deborah Jeane Palfrey's list is Vice President Dick Cheney. Cheney was CEO of Halliburton during the time of his liaisons with the Pamela Martin & Associates escort firm. Palfrey's phone invoices extend back to 1996 and include calls to and from Cheney...while he was the CEO and maintained a residence off Chain Bridge Road in the Ballantrae neighborhood in McLean, Virginia, a few blocks from the headquarters of the CIA...."

I know, just the thought of the creepy Veep having any kind of sex is like something out of Abu Ghraib. But we all know how tales of illicit sex wake up the American Masses, while this atrocious illegal war, the loss of civil liberties and all of Cheney's other crimes barely seem to disturb the great American slumber. No wonder the mainstream media, who are the real hookers to this Dick and his government/corporate cronies, etc., are keeping this story under wraps.

:shrug:

Might explain why ABC spiked the rest of the HookerGate Story.

16. First off, Counterpunch isn't reliable.
Not that I'm defending the Dick, but I don't believe much of what I read at Counterpunch since so much of it has already been proven untrue.

Just saying...

Quite the extraordinary mis-use of a word.
