Do you believe that the love of Christ excuses the believer to do and say the most hateful, intolerant things to others? Are they forgiven for their unwillingness to actually follow the examples of Jesus set forth in the New Testament?

I'm not jumping on you. I'm curious. I understand that you most likely believe Rev. Falwell is forgiven because of his faith. At the same time, I am wondering if Rev. Falwell will feel shame for his comments and behavior.

24. I affirm the Word...

in his behalf for it is all we CAN do... ONLY God, the Father, sees beyond the pale.... but, if I go by the WORD, yes, he is covered by the shed blood of Jesus. If not, then Jesus died in vain and I will never believe that.

I know people want to hate him; I detested some of the things he said and did... I agree with some as well... and this is not the forum to go into preaching mode <g>... but these are the foundations of faith for me anyway... I have enough of a time keeping my own slate clean without sweeping his .... God will see to him... but the promise is, when we accept Jesus as Saviour and Lord, all sin is placed beneath the blood ... and washed... never to be remembered again against us...

I will comment no more for this is a sore spot with many here who do not know or understand not want to....

We will ALL face this time... I plead the precious shed blood... for I am FAR from perfect like many here must be.

I understand what you are saying. At the same time, I wonder to myself where that forgiveness ends and when the human in question has to take responsibility for his or her actions in this life.

I can only share with you that Jesus said how often are we to forgive... and said it must be not seven times, but seventy time seven i.e. infinite - as it is with God when we accept His Son's sacrifice for us. I understand this is the CHRISTIAN belief system - and do NOT want anyone to say I am "pushing it down our throats," as is want here... I am simply sharing with you personally because you asked - or at least commented.

Entire theologies have been built on such matters, so I do not claim to be the final authority... except for myself...

Maybe that is an antidote to thinking of myself as the next St. Francis, or Jesus' favorite disciple.

However, so far I am not seeing that much evidence that Falwell was so bad. We hear about people second-hand sometimes and see them in the simplest terms, with the most convenient definitions. Goodboy's thread of quotes does not have very many examples IMO. Sometimes we find fault in what other people say, because we already hate them, and we put the worst possible spin on everything they say and do in order to further justify to ourselves our rightness in hating them.

But I am disappointed in your inablity or unwillingness to cite Luke 18: 9. You have let me down :cry:
