Newt's well of hate: "Sharia is coming, sharia is coming," yells our psycho Paul Revere
from the Detroit Metro Times:

Newt's well of hate
"Sharia is coming, sharia is coming," yells our psycho Paul Revere

By Robert Dreyfus

Jay Bookman, writing in the Atlanta Journal & Constitution, says that Newt Gingrich's speech last week at the American Enterprise Institute was full of "hateful, vile garbage (that) makes Joe McCarthy look measured and responsible." Joe Klein, in Time, notes wryly: "Newt Gingrich is clearly running for President. How do I know? He gets dumb and angry when running for office (and) panders to the yahoos." Amy Sullivan, also in Time, suggests that Gingrich might be encouraged by the "Burn a Koran Day" organized by a kooky, right-wing church in Florida.

All this reaction, and more, was sparked by the AEI remarks, pompously entitled "Camus, National Security, and Afghanistan." (Camus, in fact, has very little to do with it.) Widely touted as a major address on the failings of the Obama administration on national security, Gingrich's remarks in fact veered weirdly into outright craziness and near-drooling paranoia.

If his speech at AEI is a sign that Gingrich is running for president in 2012, then the only role he can play is to make Sarah Palin look moderate by comparison.

Stripped to its basics, Gingrich sounded like a psychotic Paul Revere as he warned his listeners — who, it seemed, watching the tape, applauded only sporadically and politely — that "sharia" is on the verge of taking over America. Yes, sharia. "I believe sharia is a mortal threat to the survival of freedom in the United States," Gingrich thundered. Not only Obama, but the entire American establishment, is "willfully blind" to the existential threat unfolding right before our eyes. To Gingrich, it's so obvious that it's like saying "two plus two is four," yet the Orwellian monsters who control our government insist that the answer is five, or three, or something else! The threat is so dire that Gingrich even proposed a new law to protect Americans who are one-step away from having full-bearded, scimitar-waving, Koran-thumping Taliban jurists ordering their very limbs to be chopped off and their women stoned. Gingrich, warning that the "fight against sharia" is the defining struggle of our time, intends to propose a law "that no court anywhere in the United States will be allowed to substitute sharia for American law." ..........(more)

1. To Hell with Newt!
He has no business talking about anything having to do with what is right or wrong.

2. Well, yeah. That's pretty much what the anti-abortion for any reason stuff is like.
Law made with the object of controlling and minutely ordering the lives of women. So, listening to that fine slate of Teabaggers, I gotta say, elect them and that is exactly what you get.

3. He's more pathetic than anything else
He's rapidly losing ground in whatever "comeback" he was attempting.

Sure, Newt, run. Run like the wind.

Your base are the "backwash", as Colbert so eloquently put it.

4. I wonder if conservatives would still like Paul Revere
If some pointed out to that the man was actually French.

6. But Sharia would make it easier for Newt to get divorces!

I don't know why anybody would listen to that idiot, even in the most delusional corners of the GOP.

Back in 2000, Newtie dropped a lot of hints that G.W. Bush needed a Vice-President with experience in Congress, etc. etc. Hint? Heck, he did everything except strip butt-naked and parade around wearing a sandwich-board saying "PICK ME!!!"

This was only 2 years after Newt predicted - live on camera, to a documentary crew - that the GOP would pick up dozens of seats in the 1998 off-year elections. The GOP happily lost its ass in that election, as American voters let the Repubs know exactly how much they appreciated the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

So the response of the Bush people was pretty much like the warm response Dick Nixon got, when he offered to campaign for the GOP in 1976 - just 2 years after he resigned in disgrace: "Ummmmm....thanks but no thanks, you've done enough to for us already. Kthxbai!"

A friend who is 90 yrs and taught in the district school system had to stop teaching to marry her husband who was a judge in the district court. They were not allowed to date during her two years of teaching. After she married she could no longer teach at that time. She became an artist and has paintings in the white house. I happen to see the manual, while at a party at her house years ago and copied this article.

Interesting huh.
