Quelle surprise! Another serial gop liar!

Rand Paul never got a degree from Baylor and never corrected the record
By John Amato Friday Aug 06, 2010 6:00pm

Rand Paul is at it again. Sam Stein:

Kentucky Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul was caught in a now-familiar campaign mishap on Thursday when it was revealed that he has failed to correct mistaken assumptions about his educational achievement.

Contrary to popular belief, the Tea Party favorite never received a bachelor's degree from Baylor University, reports the Lexington Herald-Leader reported. Paul attended the school but left for Duke University after being accepted into its School of Medicine.

The mistake, the campaign insisted, was made by the press. "I guess many people and some in the media have assumed Dr. Paul had a bachelor's degree, but he has never said that," Doug Stafford, a consultant for Paul's Senate campaign said.

As for why the Paul campaign never asked publications to run a correction, Stafford insisted that the candidate and his aides were not aware that the erroneous assertion had ever been made.

Naturally, video was bound to surface testing that claim. And by Thursday afternoon, Paul's opponent Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway had unearthed footage of Paul sitting through an interview with the Louisville Courier Journal editorial board in which his bio was read to him as follows:

"Dr. Paul is the chairman and founder of Kentucky Taxpayers United. A native of Pennsylvania he is a graduate of Baylor University and the Duke University School of Medicine."

12. but he went from Baylor
to Duke. Seems weird that Duke medical school would take someone without a BA, but I guess it can happen.

8. Not unusual
Universities have amazing bureaucracies when it comes to making a student close to graduation jump through one more hoop. My last semester in college, I had to take 2 music appreciation courses to graduate. I did, but the completion of those courses came after my acceptance to grad school. I don't know what would have happened if I skipped out on them and showed up, whether the grad school would have bounced me out.

Then there are the people who get accepted into the next program without finishing the first. One person I knew had no high school diploma, no bachelors degree, but she did graduate from veterinary school.

3. How come that nutty woman in Nevada becomes a national joke
while this equally nutty guy seems to get away with crap like this?

Are the voters in NV more alert than those in KY?

Is it because she is running against a well known figure instead of a local office holder?

I don't get it. Seems to me Mr Paul (if indeed that is his name) has lied about every aspect of his past and he still has a narrow lead in the polls.

5. I posted that Thursday and asked these questions ==
1 - if he never got the college degree
2 - if he had to manufacture of college of eye care
3 - did he even graduate from high school.

Maybe she would try to find the records. After all he's a republican and you who them....they don't know what the true is.

6. It is NOT unusual for accelerated admission to medical, veterinary,
or dental schools for students who have excelled in completing their prerequisites by their junior year. I don't know that he specifically claimed to have had a BS degree--he may well have said where he completed his undergraduate work. In many cases, the undergrad institution would have granted a BS, upon application, following the first year of med, vet, or dental school.

Much ado about nothing. Ron Paul is subject to much deserved criticism. This, though, is off the mark.
