Democrats are not alone in criticizing Fallwell

I noticed a few posts on FR that just disappeared after they tore into Falwell. Of course DU will get all the criticism for hateful remarks toward Falwell because the Freepers deleted the ones on there site and DU didn't.

I don't agree with making childish jokes right after he has died, however I have plenty of Republican friends who despised Jerry Fallwell with a passion and I know they won't shed a tear for him! Fallwell did a lot of harm to many people and deeply damaged this country in so many ways. He deserves a lot of criticism for his actions however I think we could have waited a few days to start such criticisms. Still, Fallwell's harmful impacts on so many people is relevant and has a place in this debate. I would just hope we can stick to the facts about these impacts rather than just spew hateful remarks.

And Falwell's actions did do some good--a thread talked about the fact the The People For The American Way was founded in response to Falwell's actions. It was suggested that people donate to PFAW at this time.

5. Expressing criticism is fine.

Making the criticism a personal display of hate and ill-will, on the other hand, just diminishes the poster.
