This is the sort of shit that makes me want to punch kitties in the face.
From a CNN article on the amazing statistic that 25% of Americans believe President Obama is not a citizen (idiots to the left of me; asshats to the right; here I am, stuck in the middle with you): http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/08/09/president.imposter/?iref=polticker

Here's the the quote. How many things can you find wrong here:

"But historians say Americans have long accused their presidents of being illegitimate officeholders for all sorts of dark, and bizarre, reasons.

"Heavens, where do I start?" says David Crockett, an associate professor of political science at Trinity University in Texas.

"No one wants to admit that they got spanked in an election contest. It's always nicer to think the opponent somehow cheated the system. So yes -- Obama wasn't born here, Bush stole the election, Clinton won only because Ross Perot screwed up Bush's chances, Bush the elder won only because he demagogued Willie Horton. ... I could go back further."

Goddamn, I hate this sort of political equivalence. Yeah, all the things above are the same. And we're accused of relativism? I need a drink.

3. 25% of Americans huh...
Well, we all know a few idiots, don't we? We also know people who'll say stupid shit like this on a poll for the sake of pushing a certain answer, but would never in public admit it.

8. The numbers of all Americans
usually I've seen poll around 10%-16%. What is interesting is that slightly more people believe ACORN assisted Obama in stealing the election.

4. Actually conspiracy is a long tradition in the United States
Could I recommend a book?

The Paranoid Style in American Politics by Richard Hoffstader.

I know it is an old book, but it applies today... hell re-reading this now... or rather in the next few days...

10. The biggest question is why they questioned a professor at Trinity University about it.
Seriously... which way do you think he's gonna respond? :wtf:
