Why is the mainstream media presenting nuts like Pamela Geller as relevant critics of Islam?

Geller is a fascist *radio edit* who would do to Muslims what Hitler did to Jews if she were to ever gain a large enough following. Her rhetoric includes references to HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF YEARS of Jihad. There is much in Islamic philosophy that progressives ought to look at critically much as there is much in Christianity or in Hinduism. None of this gives anyone, and I notice that it's mostly evangelical Christians in North America, the right to fabricate inflammatory rhetoric about intergalactic holy wars in a sprawling multiverse or whatever quackery they hock our way to attack both a belief system and individuals who choose to follow it.
