It should chill us all to the bone
*Troops are being censored on their blogs and MySpace
*Photographers are being banned from combat areas
*General Batiste was FIRED for speaking the truth against Bush

How will we know if the surge is going well or not IF it isn't being reported?
This should chill us all to the bone. Truth and dissent are becoming the latest war casualties.

Independent journalists are being silenced...a picture is worth a thousand words....if there are no pictures, words can be called lies.

The stage is set.

What next?

8. But...
will the media allow the information to get out? I'm of the mindset that the surge is not working. Look at the news reports. Every night, soldiers are getting murdered and killed over what? An administration that couldn't care less about what we the American people want.

10. What's next is a complete fabrication of a successful Iraq story
Good news MUST start coming out of Iraq this summer. There will be tons of good press and everyone in MSM will be talking about how well the surge is working. There may even be stories of troops coming home although the vast majority will stay and perhaps some new ones added.

How much is on the line? Oil contracts, the future of the GOP, McCains future, Bush's legacy, profits for Halliburton and others, 2008 election. There WILL BE a victory in Iraq this summer.

This opinion is tempered somewhat by observations of dc dems. If dc dems are intent in keeping the status quo in Iraq then there won't be the urgency to declare victory...all the WH has to do is run out the clock.

This is standard operating procedure for the least transparent administration ever. Inflation issues...just stop reporting M1. Can't beat science...either twist findings or smear science in general. Losing an occupation...stop reporting the news.

12. The troops, I am not surprsied
there were very valid reasons for that

the press... yep, it is chilling... and another proof of how far we are have done down the road of fascism...

Now let me explain about the troops

The excuse they gave was that some troops were giving away information that could be valuable to the enemy. the example used was a trooper telling his buds back home what tehy looked for in IEDs... that is an OpSec problem, and could get some people killed. What is more, the troops have never had a right to free speech. You simply don't, when you take that oath. In WW II the Navy had a saying that covers this well, "loose lips sink ships."
