Sorry Fellers,
But I gotta save my money for the drug test that Robert Gibbs says that I need. I didn’t think I was on drugs, but I guess you just can’t be too sure these days.
And here, all the while I just thought I was “fucking retarded” like that Mr. Emmanuel guy said.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, you would be wise to save your postage in mailing me future solicitations for money. I will never, ever donate another nickel to you people. I won’t give you money to give it to Blue Dogs, New Democrats, or other assorted DLC trash that work against working peoples best interests.
Too many times I’ve seen you actively work against progressives in primaries, and even actually recruit Republicans to switch parties and run against them.
Sincerely, from your FORMER base

2. the problem is that the House passed good progressive legislation |
|
they passed a robust public option for example and their stimulus bill had $200 billion more than what got passed. They passed a strong energy bill with cap and trade which has just hanging out there. All these things needed votes from some dems in conservative districts and some of them are going to lose their seats over these votes.

I posted the letter I sent back to them about a month or so ago. I was a little more tactful, but the essence boils down to this:
STOP asking for money, and get something done.

9. I got a call from the DSCC a few weeks ago |
|
It was bad enough they called me at all given that I had told them take me off their list but calling me at 8:40 on a Saturday morning would have pissed me off even if I liked them.
Apparently the hapless soul calling didn't know there was a time difference between the east coast and Minnesota because he said it was 9:40 when I asked him if he knew what the hell time it was.
Undeterred, he went into his spiel. And, being crabby about having him wake me up I decided to see just how much abuse he would take. (To be clear I didn't abuse him personally, just jumped on everything reason he had for me giving the DSCC money). I do have to wonder if all their phoners sound as desperate as this guy did.
He mentioned increasing the the Democratic majority, I asked what good that would do because they couldn't get anything done now - he agrees but that just proves they need a bigger majority.
He mentions Obama needs more Democratic senators so they can pass more bills like health care and finance reform - I tell him Obama & the Senate sold us out on those bills and when I hear them talk about reform I get very nervous. I add that I'm not so sure I'll vote for him in 2012 - this guy could understand how I feel.
I tell him I may send money to Boxer or Feingold but not a dime to the party or any outfits like the DSCC because I don't want a penny of my money going to people like Blanche Lincoln - he tells me the DSCC has thrown Lincoln "off the bus".
I told him that after 38 years I was ready to give up on the party and he tells me the party needs me. I responded that the party only needs liberals when they want money or votes but isn't interested in our opinions, again he understands how I feel but at this point he realized a semi-positive approach wouldn't work so he pulled out the fear card and mentioned that Palin could be the next president :scared:. And what could I say to that except if, God fobid, that happens the Democrats will have no one but themselves to blame. (Strange, Bush used Bin Laden to scare us, Obama uses Palin)
Usually you only have to say "no" three times to get these guys to hang up - but I really got a feeling of panic in this guy's voice and I'm wondering if DSCC callers are getting a lot of responses similar to the one I gave them. I didn't even bother to tell them not to call again because I'm curious to see how hysterical the next call might be.

I can't believe he played the Palin card. How did you manage to answer him? I would have been laughing so hard I would have dropped the phone.
Nice job on countering the talking points. Especially since they called you at 8:40 on a friggin' Saturday morning. Talk about nerve. Any political organization that would call me that early in the morning is one that definitely doesn't want my support.
