Gibbs has apologized (sort of ) time to move on.
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 12:05 PM by Botany
The man is human and made a mistake but he is part of the very best
administration I have seen in my lifetime. We can stew in our own
"poutrage" or we can get busy and make sure we protect and grow the
democratic majorities in the House and Senate.

BTW if you don't think that is important think of all damage that was done
after bush v Gore went through and that Obama will get some more picks
for the Supreme Court.

BTW II I think Gibbs should go on Rachel Maddow and "make the peace."

BTW III this very same administration is now trying to save the jobs of cops, fireman, and teachers

Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 01:49 PM by sabrina 1
they are putting Republicans in positions of power in their administration while slamming the people who put them there.

Maybe they'd like to return all the donations from the 'left' they so despise. I think many of them could use that money now.

Like all "gaffes" there was a little too much candor.

But the WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY generally knows what he is saying when talking to the press.

26. It's not going to go away. Each time this stuff happens,
the rift is wider and deeper and worse for our party. It will go underground until the next time. I just hope that isn't in late September or the next time we need to get something done together.

15. this reminds me a man slapping around his wife
and then saying... "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't really mean it. What I did was 'unartful.' I'll never do it again. I promise. And don't believe it when people say I called you a fuckin' retard, either. Or when I claim you're drug-addled."

Sometimes people in abusive situations don't have the personal resources to leave immediately. But if they reach out to others and organize themselves in such a way that they can help out one another, they're able to tell the abuser to fuck off.

16. It isn't us that Gibbs hurt, It is the President
The one who should be most angry is Obama because Gibbs shouldn't have made that statement like that. It was very unprofessional and regardless of how Obama thinks about this matter, Gibbs shouldn't ever state it like that. He owes Obama an apology more than us.

I certainly can see why Obama could be fustrated with the left because I have seen enough close-minded post here as well as calls into my show. I have grown fustrated with the ones who don't get it that we need to be critical of Obama but not his enemy, that we need to realize the powers he is up against and he needs us to stand with him but still be willing to let him know when we are disappointed. I have been disappointed with Obama in some areas, but I have been upset with our side and the lack of support we have shown since he came into office. I hope we will realize that we can disagree with Obama and yet we can support him as well without being blind followers.

24. What lack of support are you talking about? You're just rehashing
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 01:40 PM by EFerrari
the same thing Gibbs said. Remember, when Obama needed votes for his health insurance bill, he called the same Dennis Kucinich that swung votes to him in Iowa. The same man that people here make fun of. That Dennis Kucinich. And Dennis came through in the clutch both times generously.

You can't say the left has not been supporting Obama because that's not true. The left has been doing exactly what you say you want -- advocating for our positions and supporting Obama when it was important.

and admit they were 'inartful.'

BTW, the President threatened to veto that bill to save all those jobs if they used any of Arnes' 'Race to Privatize Public Education' money to pay for it. So, the House had to cut Food Stamps money.

pourage is not precisely a good way to reach people you know.

Oh and those you are pissed at, are not needed. Unless it is election time.

This pattern goes back oh at least to the 1980s... sooner or later it will really backfire... oh wait... 1994 comes to mind. Are we on track for a repeat?

May I recommend a book called How To Win Friends and Influence People <[br />
http://www.amazon.com/How-Win-Friends-Influence-People/dp/1439167346/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1281639356&sr=1-1

Serious... you can even find it cheap at Barnes and Noble from time to time.

I also recommend a poli sci course.

36. Sorry, but this little play is not over yet.

In the next act, this administration demonstrates that it will retreat in the face of Max Baucus, Joe Lieberman, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and even Andrew Brietbart, but it will never retreat in the face of Leftists.

Then in the final act, the administration will sear into every brain that can still understand that it does not hate bankers, oil executives, Republicans, Tea Baggers, or even war criminals, but it absolutely hates the Left.

Then you can pick up your coat and go home.

...or, maybe to the wrap party where everybody decides that the play was actually an allegory and meant something completely different.
