Robert Gibbs symbolizes what the Obama admin. really thinks of the left |
|
I think this latest outburst shows what Obama and his people really think of the left, and they have felt this way all along. It has been shown loud and clear by their actions, not just words. This latest incident just confirms it.
According to this vision, the left who criticize Obama are mostly a bunch of rich professionals, aka, as limousine liberals, who are out of touch with the common people and have pie in the sky dreams and unrealistic expectations.
What about the poor people or people unemployed looking for work? Nah, no way they could get access to a computer or the internet anyway to post their complaints, right? (sarcasm) The administration just showed how out of touch and how much in a bubble they are with their angry outbursts.

Recognition. I've been waiting for a sign that the WH has ears.
I agree with the issues of the "professional left." I don't agree with the way many are conducting themselves. Yes they have legitimate gripes. The thing is everyone has legitimate gripes. Very few get heard like the left has.

We have to act like adults to win the debate we are in. Those watching this will not support whining and stamping of feet like a kid in a grocery store whose mother won't buy the cereal with the prize in it that they want.
I'm not saying Obama is mother and we are kids. But our behavior should be mature so that we get the respect and possibly the things that we want.
Posts here that are mainly flame bait on this issue are a waste of time.
Take a lesson from Olbermann's comments last night.

Please justify these positions as a liberal. Please tell me why I and the other "12%" are wrong about: (and I'll list just a few, because us clueless people can't think about more than a couple things at a time)
Afghanistan: Why is this war so righteous?
Gay Rights: Why shouldn't gays be allowed to be married?
Appointments: Why was it smart to appoint a homophobic global warming denier to the oil spill disaster team? Why is it smart to appoint a lobbyist for Health Care companies to oversee the implementation of the new Health Care bill?
Because I am one of the clueless 12% I have no idea why the war should continue, why gays shouldn't marry and why we should be appointing people who have a monetary stake in their decisions to important posts. Please fill me in on these things as I am clueless.
Or are you saying the 85% aren't liberals?

I couldn't agree more with every word he said. About time somebody at the top told it like it is.

Gibbs did great damage to the President with these words, and unless that is what you are after, this is not good news for anyone. This Gibbs takes piles of taxpayer money to do a job he can not even do well. How did he serve his President with these words? He made mocking references to a Democratic Congressman currently running for office against a Republican. How does that serve the Party, the President or the Democratic voters and volunteers of Ohio's 10th?

Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 03:05 PM by quiet.american
I'll say upfront I'm not a big fan of Gibbs and thought he was wrong for the position from the start. But today, he has my full support.
Let's not pretend that many here don't seem to live to, on a daily basis, post nothing but misleading or outright nonsense about Pres. Obama.
Gibbs remarks aren't going to change those who support the President into non-supporters of the President. They'll just hurt the feelings of those who name-call this administration on a minute-by-minute basis anyway.
Even though the poutrage over this may cost Gibbs his job, it's just about worth it in my book.
I agree with every damn word he said.

29. Well we are of a mind in general about Gibbs |
|
Wrong for the gig. But to me, this is just more proof of his lack of ability. I'm not a stranger to the press, and from my point of view, he made a giant stink where he could have, if less involved with his own ego, make some bridge building. To make waves of any kind is just not the role of a spokesperson. The product is the star, always. He is there to serve the President. And that is not what he did. You use the word 'poutrage' which is indicative of the problem. Gibbs himself is pouting, from a position of weakness. Those of us who do want universal health care, equal rights for all, or a less insane military budget are not pouting. They are simply correct about these issues. Gibbs also calls out a current Democratic candidate for Congress for some sneering, and that, that is not at all cool. Volunteers are out working to elect him, and Gibbs, for 172,000 tax payer dollars a year, slams him a few weeks out from the election. Stupid politics is just stupid politics.

So far, representatives from the Obama administration have called us "retarded," and now we are "unrepresentative of liberals" (a blatant example of re-framing), we ought to be drug-tested, we're "crazy," etc..
It's clear that, despite the huge efforts to marginalize us, the WH is very clear about who we are and where we stand, and they don't like it. The don't like the fact that we have a voice, and they don't care to represent us.

48. What does he mean by the "professional left"? |
|
Is he talking about the hundreds of thousands if not millions of professionals with more degrees than he could dream of having being left out of the lousy job market and the stimulus package?
Is he talking about the professional politicians like President Obama who don't really know what is going on in the country because they only talk to people rich enough to give them money?
Obama is making the same mistake that his recent predecessors in the White House have made. He surrounds himself with sycophants and opportunists who know just how to push his buttons so that they get the personal advantages they want for themselves. I won't name names. Just look at his economic team.
He can pout and complain all he wants, but the fact remains, he has the power to change things. We don't. If he doesn't listen to those who are probably much wiser and more experienced in reality than the sycophants and opportunists who have endeared themselves to him, he will fail. And with him the whole nation will fail. And the effect that will have on the future of humanity and perhaps our planet will fall on his shoulders and those of his and all of our children.
Obama should listen to the professional liberals. We are intelligent, well educated and know what we are talking about. Robert Gibbs does not. Neither do Geithner and Bernanke. And had Summers understood economics and banking one fourth as well as he claims to, we would not be in the mess we are in. If Obama does not like the situation in our economy, then he should ask Summers why Summers and Rubin got us into this mess in the first place. Did male chauvinism have something to do with it?
