6. Everybody knows that his base is less than 10% (non-approvers) of 20% (liberals) of voters.
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 04:37 PM by LoZoccolo
The 2% base is PISSED! This will really make the people who already think that Obama is just like Bush* not vote for him! If this continues, they are again going to say that they are not going to vote for Obama!

22. Obama's approval has dropped from over eighty percent to under fifty percent
Do you think it is because Republicans abandoned him?

31. It seems more like the Republican-leaning Independents did.
He's still sky-high among Democrats in general, and umm.... 90% among liberals.

The Repukes always hated him, so no real change there.

The Democrats still have a very high regard for him.

It's among the Independents where he's dropped.

Guess what? Independents aren't usually Democrats (or else they'd be registered as such), and tend to be moderates, centrists. They definitely aren't left/liberal/progressives.

53. Guess what...I am an Independent and there aren't many more Liberal
I had much higher expectations. I expected more honesty than we got. I actually believed Obama when he said there would be "No more Supplemental War Spending Bills" I believed him when he said "Beginning on Day One"..."One Brigade a Month"..I am not so Naive as to believe politicians don't LIE but I didn't really expect such blatant LIES right from the get go.. I will probably vote for him because as everyone is so quick to say, who else would I vote for.. However I am an extremely disappointed Liberal, and my disappointment is almost entirely with Obama. Democrats as a whole have done remarkable things.

58. He kept the promise on one brigade a month.
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 09:12 PM by 4lbs
When he was inaugurated, January 20, 2009, there were 140,000 troops in Iraq.

Now there are at most 50,000. That means there are 90,000 fewer troops in Iraq.

18 months later here we are, with 50,000 troops, or 90,000 fewer than when he took office.

What's one brigade? About 5000 soldiers at the maximum.

Multiply 18 by 5000 and you get... 90,000.

He kept the "Brigade a month coming home from Iraq" promise.

Those 50,000 that are there will be gone by the end of 2011. So, on January 1, 2012, there won't be any U.S. troops in Iraq at all.

Why is it "framing Ari would be proud of"? Are you contesting the poll's data? Are you somehow trying to convince us that 10% screaming enough disinformation cannot influence an election? You don't get to hit and run.

What's your concern? It's not like the Left matters, right?

Are you somehow trying to convince us that 10% screaming enough disinformation cannot influence an election?

Is an end to war and wiretapping really disinformation?

And anyways, what's the harm? What can that 10% do?

As I just (and I mean mere moments ago) posted elsewhere:

LGBTs are too small a minority to worry about, either -- until the Dems lose, and then it's all our fault.

But it certainly is funny, all that energy expended to make us conform to whatever the meme of the day may be. Why bother with us, when we don't count?

It's a neverending parallax view.

26. The US has gone so far to the Right that such labels are meaningless.
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 05:30 PM by Odin2005
Most people attach to such labels out of habit and team feeling, not because of actual policy positions, anyway.

Also, because of our 2-party system most people think "liberal" and "conservative" are synonyms for the party labels.

Any way you look at it such polls are inherently crap for all those reasons.

46. You guys are hardly the strongest.
You threw the guy over the edge on day one because he didn't immediately end the wars via executive order OR swim out to Guantanamo Bay and have the prisoners all transferred to the White House.

You know what? Gibbs' remarks were ill-advised, but I don't think he'd have said it if the White House wasn't so goddamn frustrated. They expect unfounded accusations and criticism from the right. But when you hear "CAT FOOD COMMISSION" too many times from some asshole on TV or the internet who doesn't know how to do research, it kinda gets to you.

considering how over the top, often untrue and usually unfair nature of it, Gibbs had little choice but to call them on it. If he didn't say something the GOP would ride that criticism to victory in November.
