I'm impressed..
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 05:25 PM by Fumesucker
Impressed with the sheer amount of effort going toward convincing a tiny and irrelevant minority that they are completely and utterly wrong in everything they think, do and say while at the same time trying to convince that tiny minority that their support and votes are critical.

Eh, I was a ten percenter when Bushie was at ninety percent popularity and I don't mind being a ten percenter now either.

Indeed, I'm more comfortable as part of a tiny minority, when too many people agree with me I start wondering what I'm getting completely wrong.

Edited for clarity..

They keep up this two faced lie and it is getting pretty pathetic.

9. All of that effort directed at the "marginal fringe."
What isn't right in this picture?

Either we're the "fucking retarded/drugged crazy fringe," in which case they can safely ignore us, or our voices and votes count for something.

Since they aren't ignoring us, I'm going to go with door # 2.

Of course, one way to address their concerns would be to give us a place at the table. But that was never the intent. The intent was to use our donations, energy, time, and votes, to insure election victories, and leave us in the wind the rest of the time, using the "so you'd rather have mccain/don't look there, look over here sleight of political hand/we don't have the votes/we haven't had enough time/we never promised you a pony/the boogie man is going to get you if you don't shut up and get in line" propaganda to keep us in line.

A comment by Gibbs, and an expletive by Rahm a few years ago.

That's being ignored, not being pushed.

22. I talked up the Democrats big time here in my red state hell for the 2008 election..
And caught a great deal of grief for doing so, lost some friends over it even.

Now I don't talk politics IRL any more, it just causes me too many problems for far too little gain. I had a good opportunity the other day and deliberately told someone I don't talk politics, it's just too damn divisive.

I had a little hope when Obama was elected and we got a Dem Congress, from my point of view all they have done is slowed the slide into the oubliette just a touch. That is not what I was looking for.

Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 07:22 PM by Fumesucker
Or were the ninety percent who worshiped Bushie not disseminating disinformation and distortions?

The majority can be just as guilty of distortions and disinformation as the minority, no matter how small that minority might be.

Edited because I was distracted when I wrote it..

30. You Have No Point
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 08:43 PM by Beetwasher
Since I never claimed any such thing.

My point, which you utterly (intentionally?) miss, is relevant to the OP, since he's claiming some importance has been attached to this screeching minorities vote potential. There is no importance or effect regarding their tiny vote potential, IMO. My problem is not the vote of this screeching minority, it is the negative, destructive effect of their egregious shit flinging.

21. "When too many people agree with me,"
I absolutely know that there is something that I am not seeing. I enjoyed that last line of yours. I have always been beat up for having opinions that no one else has. But I will never sit out a vote because I am not happy---even if I have to write in another name for an office. This tells the candidates on the ballot that 1) yes I did take the time to go to the polls and vote, and 2) no I am not happy with my choices.

Why expend all the effort to convince me that I'm irrelevant?

There's post after post on GD right now talking about how "the far left" is irrelevant.

If we are irrelevant then our votes are unnecessary, correct?
