To My "New" Dem Friends...
In listening to KO and Michael Moore tonight it occurred to me that they are saying exactly what I feel about the Gibbs comment.

Can you tell me specifically what parts of the KO piece (including the Special Comment) that you disagree with?

Does his piece sound like it comes from the 'Far Left?" Or is it a well thought out response that represents how most Dems feel whether they call themselves "progressives" or just Democrats?

Seriously curious.

3. Basically ignoring the point that the far left expect Obama to perform miricals with this congres
Edited on Tue Aug-10-10 07:36 PM by uponit7771
...congress that is ONLY 58% and is a simple majority and the essence of what Gibbs said is true along with the fact that MOST on the far left who are bitching aren't willing to lift a finger to help get the WH the congressional resources and some have gone as far to work against Obama personally to let him know they've told him so or some shit.

...that's bout it..

20. I expected Obama to perform as he has. As an ambitious centrist"professional" politician.
Which is why I didn't vote for him.

23. Are you for real? You are all over this board tonight with those same talking points and
percentages. That, by itself, would be annoying, but unremarkable. You go beyond that, however, by consistently attacking posters who YOU characterize as "far left", accusing them of not being "willing to lift a finger" to help Democrats and working "against Obama personally".

You are unfazed by not having one iota of substantiation to offer for your snotty remarks. As mentioned elsewhere, your whole attitude and demeanor amount to "aid and comfort to the enemy."

Are you just nasty by nature or are you just being "bipartisan" by accepting Republican obstructionism as "OK"?

14. I thought MM and KO voiced my frustration very well.
I am really frustrated how the Obama administration negotiated with the right on policies even when the public was largely behind a more liberal approach like the public option, negotiation of prescription drug prices and the elimination of too big to fail financial institutions.

...unremarked upon because everyone generally agrees that it's good when good stuff happens. While criticisms -- valid and not -- get push-back, which gives them more attention.

My 2 cents.

19. Look...
I'm just trying to make the point that we so-called "progressives" are not Left Wing commie nut cases as has been implied by Mr. Gibbs. We are merely trying to insure that the basic tenets of our party are not abandoned. After all, we are the Party of the People.

And that's the problem. Take you "tenets" and leave- Corp money will be used to buy positions from now on. That's basically the message here.

25. KO & MM were exactly on target and
I consider myself to be a liberal who is progressive. I've said this many times on this board--a liberal is by definition progressive. I don't get those labels and have long ago concluded that "progressives" are ashamed to be called liberal. I do not differ philosphically or politically from these individual. I get frustrated to but using the big club to batter is not always the answer to a problem. I guess I've worked around policy making processes long enough to know that the way forward is not always immediately discernable or the straightest path. I do think we have made considerable progress on many fronts with this administration. There is much more work to do. And, yes, the President should not lose sight of the people who put him in office.
