2. Graham was ahead of his time on civil rights
Both are religious fundamentalists, but Falwell was a public bigoted, hate spewing, vicious, evil man. Graham was generally an apolitical and inclusive evangical.

Graham was ahead of his time on race issues (although privately was an anti-Semite). I see no reason to celebrate Billy Graham's passing even if I am not attracted to his theology.

Describes Falwell perfectly. Do you think God will allow him to direct the weather? Somehow I think not.

5. Can't imagine we would.
I'd be against it. There are few men in the world as loathsome as Jerry Falwell. Pat Robertson, perhaps, but that would be about it.

25. And don't forget Fred Phelps.
But Billy Graham is not personally hateful; and he has been positive in some ways.

Now Franklyn Graham might elicit a few jeers here.

9. Graham's offspring may be evil, but not Billy
No matter whether you agree with him or not (and I don't one
single tiny bit), I nevertheless believe that Billy Graham
sincerely believes what he preaches. No comparison.

person. And he was genuinely sickened when he found out what a real wretch his buddy Nixon was.

32. He also was a lifelong Democrat
but never wore it on his sleeve and never as far as I am aware endorsed a candidate.

Mainly because he felt that it would denigrate his highly effective ministry to get into politics.

religious person and believes in helping people. He is not like Robertson and Dobson, and like Farwell was.

22. Not Valid Comparison
I don't like any of these bible thumpers but Graham never said idiot and evil things like that gays caused 9/11 or that AIDS was a good thing...from God...to punish us HOMOsexuals.

No, I won't revel in Graham's death the way I do this little fascist.

24. I voted no
I've never been a fan of Billy Graham, but he's always been primarily a preacher as far as I can tell. I think that his experience with Nixon taught him how dangerous it was to cross too far over the line from the spiritual to the political realms. Falwell, on the other hand, is someone who spent the last three decades as a politician waging a holy war to make my country a worse place to live.
