I would like to propose that Department of Defense gets a massive cut |
|
end the unnecessary war in Afghanistan and Iraq, bring home the troops, retrain them to do whatever they want..
End the war of aggression, and cut it to 95% and leave the rest for defensive purpose only. 5% of their massive budget is more than enough to defend our country.
Let the money go elsewhere. This has been going on for far too long since Raygun.
30+ fucking years. That's how much the Republicans has lied to the country and raided the money for defense.
PS: I don't give a flying fuck about Israel, Iraq, Afghanistan. I am one of the many that believes that if it wasn't interfered, the'll work it out on their own.

1. May I please jump on that entire bandwagon? |
|
Just think. The country would have a trill to use for education, infrastructure, R&D, jobs . . . K&R.

4. So, how about a commission? |
|
There's a bunch of folks not dependent on Social Security putting together all kinds of recommendations for how to keep the program solvent that doesn't cost any of them any more money (Hint: C_t b_n_f_ts). The administration could put together a commission of folks from the Quakers, the Mennonites, and the Church of the Brethren to review defense expenditures. I'd serve.

13. I think you massively undermine your case with the PS. |
|
"I am one of the many that believes that if it wasn't interfered, the'll work it out on their own" is not a statement that can stand up to even a cursory examination. The idea that the only, or even the main, cause of the world's problems is US intervention is just daft.
"The amount of good done by keeping troops in Afghanistan and/or Iraq is outweighed by the amount of harm done and the cost", sure. But any honest attempt to make the case for withdrawal has to admit that both countries will almost certainly become/remain spectacularly unpleasant places to live ("failed states") in the short and medium term afterwards, and that there is no realistic prospect of either "working it out on their own".
