Let's see if the President agrees with Gibbs or not. If Obama fires Gibbs then we know where Obama stands and all is forgiven Mr. President.

1. He won't fire Gibbs, just like he didn't fire Tim Kaine after we lost Ted Kennedy's seat |
|
If the Democrats lose Congress in 2010, I have no doubt that they will blame the "left", when maybe they should look in the mirror at themselves

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=433x404501snip// Update: In a statement, DNC Chairman Tim Kaine raises a noteworthy point: "There could not be a better example of the differences in priorities between Republicans and Democrats than this legislation. While Democrats are working to help preserve the jobs of hundreds of thousands of teachers, firefighters, police officers and others, Republicans continue to obstruct legislation while supporting tax cuts that would only benefit Wall Street CEOs and other wealthy Americans. Even after Democrats made every effort to reach out to GOP lawmakers, Republicans fought tooth-and-nail against this critical legislation -- refusing to help those who continue to struggle because of the failed Republican economic policies of the past. This stark difference in priorities could not be more clear to the American people, who now have yet another reminder of which party is on their side."Wake up and recognize your enemies. The Dems aren't them.

Wake up and recogize your enemies. The Dems aren't them???? Really that is your answer to the above poster and not to ROBERT FUCKING GIBBS????
Someone needs to give that advice to the Obama administration and really fucking quick, like today. They are blowing it and the usual suspects are allowing it to happen and demonizing the same people the Obama admin. has decided to demonize. Fucking right pathetic behavior if you ask me.

|
out duh fax!
I wish everyone knew what you said. Because there will be many others who suffer. They need to raise the taxes through the ROOF on people making over a million dollars a year in payroll (not people that have saved a million, I'm referring to those who make 1 mil+ a year). They have no worries that the 99+% of us do every day. They need to pay more for the ridiculous years of lowered taxes B*sh supplied them while he drove America into the shit hole.

Who do you think, or do you even give a shit beyond blaming this admin vs. rethugs? I guess you don't. Give me a fact that the Dems instituted this. Bet you can't. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8921738

they share responsibility whether they instituted it or not. Surely, they could have found some other progam to cut - maybe Obama's war funding rather than once again attacking the most vulnerable members of our society.

21. My point was that we should have NEVER lost Kennedy's seat, and Kaine should have been fired |
|
because of letting his guard down until it was too late.
It is very nice that he came out and made this statement, but where was he when Cloakley was not doing her job? It took until that last few weeks when the poll numbers went against her that they took notice, and then went out to Mass.
As far as the feelings of the administration toward progressives, this isn't the first time comments have come out of the WH which have been deragatory against liberals/progressives
If this was the only time such a statement had been made, it might be written off as frustration, but in general the progressive elements of the Democratic party have not had a seat at the table
I have no doubt the advice given the President is that when the election comes the progressives don't have a choice but to vote for us, which has been the standard of the Democratic party for some time now, to take certain parts of the party for granted. Not only progressives, but also minority groups
What they are missing is if they upset enough people, in those demographic groups, they might not show up to vote, and as we know from 2000, every vote counts
In my view it is pathetic how this administration has alienated the progressives
At a minimum Gibbs could have said that the Democrats are an inclusive party, unlike the republicans who only allow those who walk lock and step, and leave it at that, but instead choose to take it a step further by snide remarks. Not a very smart move.
I think it was Shirley Sherrod whose advice to Obama was that perhaps he should start listening to the common person

22. Saving the jobs of teachers? H e has got to be kidding. |
|
This WH is dumping teachers all over the country to replace them with cheaper labor, teaching is no longer a profession, or didn't you know that, it's a 'commodity' like 'healthcare' and soon-to-be 'social security'. Our education system is being privatized by this WH and they are passing those public funds into private hands, some of them even foreign entities.
As for Gibbs, the man needs to go and fast. Especially now that people are learning more about his anti-Democratic past, and possible support for Bush in 2004. Despicable, far worse than what he did today. And it boggles the mind that such a treachorous, Rovian character was ever appointed to this position, UNLESS, and I truly hope this is not the case, this president hates Dean as much Gibbs and Rahm do.
K&R'd, for the firing someone who betrayed Howard Dean worse than any Republican did back then. He is a liability and will help hand a victory to Republicans in the Fall if he does not go ....

but when his spokesperson tells you he doesn't like that you can't accept it?
I can understand both the Pres. & Gibbs being upset with some of the LW media after all they saw during Shrub's presidency was a** kissingfrom the RWers. If I were Pres. I don't think I'd understand it either.

It is perfectly fine for those on the left to castigate the president, do you realize why we are fucking doing it?
Because we see that he is blowing it and we know he can do better.
The Right castigate the President because they want him to fail
The Left castigate the President because we want him to succeed.
Those that excuse the President making bad choices, for allowing strong reform bills to be watered down to appease Republicans and for those who attack the Left for wanting the President to be the best President he can be, are helping to prevent the change we voted for in 2008, and if you people cant see this you are lost.

14. I know that, but there's a reason MOST people get diciplined behind closed doors too. |

Call the WH, email the WH, but not in public. Not for the rw to hear & laugh about!
I can sure understand why our Pres. might feel abuse by his lw supporters.
I HAVE called the WH when I believed he was giving in to the rw too much, and I've sent emails to the HW line, but even more often I've sent emails/called my congressmen! THAT'S where I believe the real problem is. Although I wuld have referred Reid to be much stronger with the Pubs and told them just where to get off, I think we all have to admit, there's a reaon NO other President or congress whas able to push through ANY health care reform until now. I wantedmedicare for all. I anted the public option as a possible alternative to that. But I don't think either idea would have ever made it through the Senate. I DO believe it's better that we got SOMETHING than the satisfaction that everybody really TRIED but nothing at all passed.

Are you serious? We have to stop being fucking babies really. He is the President of the United States, he isn't some total wimp that cant take the heat. He told the Net Roots Nation conference last week that he wanted us to hold him accountable, I am taking him at his word. He wants us to make him a better President, he has also told us that, remember?
What I dont understand is why the BOG and other defenders want to silence any criticism, what they dont get is that this makes him a better President, what they are doing is making him worse.

But you know what is more than pretty dumb in my book, it's an administration that is choosing to shit on the people that got that administration elected and is going to want their votes in about 3 months and again in 2012
That is really fucking dumb.

12. Odd, isn't it? How quickly they got rid of Shirley Sherrod, for instance, but |
|
Rahm Emmanuel and Robert Gibbs can directly insult the base of the party, on the record, and it's just peachy keen.
The Obama team has been sending overt messages from before Obama was even inaugurated, that they were not allies of the left. The messages were, I think, directed at Wall Street and the rest of the moneyed establishment, not the actual voters.

15. Following is something I posted in an earlier thread - |
|
I think Obama needs to relieve Gibbs of his duties because today Obama signed an important piece of legislation. It should of lead every newscast tonight. It should of helped the party.
Instead it was barely mentioned because Gibbs is undisciplined and self-centered. As angry as we are with Gibbs I guarantee you that Obama is more pissed. He probably sent Gibbs home for the day.
The W.H. is really trying to focus on the midterms. They know they have a lot of work to do to hold seats. I guarantee you that the W.H. heard from some House and Senate members today screaming "This isn't helpful - stop pissing off our supporters. Put a lid on him". The same sort of thing they privately said to the W.H. when Gibbs said the Dems might lose the House a couple of weeks back.
Its not Gibbs' White House - its Obama's.

17. WE voted the administration into power, the republicans did not. |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 12:48 AM by old mark
We supported Obama's campaign with work and money and time and votes, and in his campaign he SUPPORTED real health care and real reform in government.
I am angry at Obama and I will let him know it because he has revealed himself as a moderate to rightist at a time when we need a bold leftist agenda, not because I would like it, but because the right has been destroying our country for profit and is trying to continue the process. If the administration continues to abuse the left, I am certain the GOP will win more power in congress and become even more outrageous over the next years...the real work that America needs to get functioning will not get done.
Obama is a shrinking violet now, with a Democratic majority-what will he be like if the GOP gains power and actually paralyzes the country for the next several years?
I agree - Gibbs should be fired and very soon .
mark Are you fired up yet? rec

23. I don't care if Gibbs stays or goes. All I want is for them to fight for what is right. |
|
If they showed a little gumption when going up against the right, the left wouldn't be as upset. If they lose a bona fide battle because of the numbers, I can accept that. I can't accept compromise before the main event. The POTUS and his minions need to accept the fact the Republicans and Tea Baggers will always despise them no matter how much they give them.
