1. Kucinich is an icon of left American politics. Gibbs was saying that even with an icon as President. |

...the serial agonizers on the left still wouldn't be happy.

5. No, but there are many who are vocal on the left about the President not moving |
|
far enough to the left. They are too blindsided by their passion for doing the right thing, that they can't see that this will result in a loss in 2012 which result in UNDOING ALL THAT THE PRESIDENT HAS BEEN ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH. They are NOT paying attention because their heads are in clouds over what they WANT RIGHT NOW.
This country CANNOT be governed by the far left or the far right. We are a CENTER LEFT nation and if we drift too far left we will lose the power we have which will result in the right taking over and undoing our good work. President Obama has accomplished a hell of a lot so far, in his short time as president, and he has many more important items in the works. We need to be patient and work with him. Every time Ed Schultz, Keith Olberman and Rachel Maddow take to the airwaves to bash our president, they are helping republicans. We already have FOX news, CNN, and MSNBC (except for the 3 shows mentioned above) bashing him 24/7, why are OUR OWN PEOPLE bashing him on top of it??
I say: KNOCK IT OFF AND HAVE SOME FREAKIN' PATIENCE, YOU BABIES!!!

9. When they refused to seat advocates of single-payer or the public option at the table during the |
|
initial HCR talks, it should have been more than clear the views of the administration toward the progressives in their party
It isn't that the administration needs to jump at whatever the left or progressives want, but the fact that they are not even included in the discussions or part of the process is what is disturbing

39. His comment was not even close to being at the expense of Dennis Kucinich. |
|
The only thing said about Kucinich in Gibb's comments, whether it be through his actual words or what those words implied, was that Kucinich is extremely liberal or at least the kind of person people generally think of when a mention of the American left is invoked. This is something everyone who knows who Dennis Kucinich is generally thinks about him. Nothing there is at any expense to anyone.

62. He got "crushed" because he is a democrat that threatens corporate control of government. |
|
The true legacy of Reagan, Limbaugh, Fox News, etc., is the successful brainwashing of many people into believing that "liberals" are dangerous, thereby effectively insuring that a significant segment of the population would vote against their own interests-(the "sensible liberals"), and preserve the status quo of corporate rule. By design, they made the word liberal into a four letter word, and that has become "conventional wisdom". There's a lot of money riding on keeping corporations in control of the government and preventing people from forming an unfettered working democracy, a government that is truly of, by, and for the people.
(And, of course, there are always those that don't think Dennis is tall enough, or pretty enough, to be President).
Unless these "sensible liberals" somehow figure out that they've been brainwashed, the corparasites can always count on sincere democrats like Rep. Kucinich being crushed in Presidential elections.
Thomas Jefferson or FDR would not have a prayer of being elected President today.

8. Gibbs remarks or comments in anger and frustration reflect a |
|
person of Conservative bent. There are ConservaDems as well as Republican Conservatives. The Republicans especially alway set up their accusations in absolute terms (the extreme of the situation.)We call this false choices when Republicans do it. You are either with us or against us.. I found it most telling when Gibbs said Liberals would want them to GET RID of the Pentagon. I would say that is the most extreme option and no one I know has ever wanted to Get Rid of the Pentagon. This sounds exactly like something a RW Republican would say.
Is Gibbs from NC??? No disrespect to NC. I had never thought much about Gibbs until this tirade showed up?
It helps if you understand where someone is coming from and their own personal ideology. He does have the ear of the President.

48. You consider Gibbs a conservadem, the Southerner who worked for an African American |
|
political candidate--when many thought that given the history of race problems in this country an A-A had little chance of being elected.
And you consider Kucinich, who talked about running for the Presidency with a vice-presidential candidate who was a KKKer and has espoused all kinds of rather vile racial views, a liberal?
Perhaps you should review some of the Republican talking points over the years, and note how often racial inferences are used to dismiss ideas considered "liberal".
My impression is that the descriptions are exactly opposite--Kucinich sounds like the arch-conservative, RW Republican leaning individual, willing to ally with forces that would take us directly back to the dark ages of race hatred in this country.

In the initial interview, Gibbs also talked about criticism from Democrats that President Obama had compromised his values on issues like health care and war. "They wouldn't be satisfied if Dennis Kucinich was president," Gibbs said.
The very liberal representative from Ohio spoke to Fox News Radio and said of the comments, "From a political perspective it wasn't very smart." He didn't call for his resignation and didn't seem offended but noted, "It's important for the President's spokesperson to understand that his remarks are taken quite seriously and when he speaks I would hope that he speaks with the purpose of unifying." Odd how that concept is considered part of the "loony left" when it was very much part of the platform of the Democratic party less than 30 years ago.
