1. to be fair, 350 people a day die there under normal circumstances

there out to be a law against paraphrasing Niemöller.

Also, a lot of the problem comes from privatized and poorly managed forests, a woefully underfunded and understaffed fire fighting system, and a chronically reactionary emergency management system.

5. ONLY when climate change destruction comes to the US will this country pay attention.
When Texas and the rest of the south bakes in constant 115 degree summer days and crops wither and die from months-long droughts and ten Category 5 hurricanes hit the coast every year and flooding (ala India) kills thousands of Americans ...

Then, we might decide to do something.

We only respond to crises when they become actual disasters. And then, only sometimes.

7. Thankfully the Winds have changed and moved the smoke out
of the city.

I've talked to Russians and they said the air was unbreathable.

Now imagine if your'e old, smoke, asthmatic or have even small breathing problems
