“Captured US Troops is an advantage.”

It works in the Busholini Regime's favor. The Regime is casting it as al Q being the main danger in Iraq so the US Troops must stay there indefinetely. It is good for al Q even if it wasn't that group that actually captured the US Troops. It bolsters their esteem to all the other Islamic Fundie groups that are rabidly anti-America. The US was warned not to keep up the search or else those Troops would be in more danger but the Military keeps up the search. The group that captured these Troops cannot release them because it would make them appear weak even though it would make them seem more generous to Westerners. The Westerners are not the audience that this group is aiming to please.

So both sides have won something. It's the troops that lose.
