Regardless of whether or not you agree with Gibbs, is the Left |
|
once more engaged in eating its own? We're fighting over the color of the deck chairs while the GOP is down in the bilge drilling holes in the hull.

1. Sure was stupid of Gibbs to pick a fight with the left, while being |
|
in a Democratic Administration.

start this crap. Gibbs started it, so your OP lead should read, "Is Gibbs eating his base". Worded that way, I'd say yes, yes he is.

3. No. Gibbs and the White House seem to be engaged in |
|
triangulating for their own political motives.
We didn't start the fire.

Gibbs is speaking for the WH. They are bashing the left to hold the center. They think they can win without liberals, relying only on conservative Dems and Independents.
Stupid strategy, really. And bad for the American people.

19. But... We On the Left Have Little "Left" Or Anywhere To Go!! Certainly Not |
|
going to go RIGHT, and can't deal with what I'm seeing EITHER! And NO, we DID NOT START THIS FIGHT!!
WE are getting blamed because we knew a different Democratic Party that USED TO work for "we the people!" Sure, MONEY has always been in the way, but it was used for the better good at one time. Now it's just SHOW ME THE MONEY.... I'll do with it what I want!!!

21. Exactly. This is a great time to move the country to the left a little |
|
and what do we get but this same old tired worthless DLC cr@p that has been proven to erode the party and not to work. It's self-destructive behavior, at bottom.

It is so disappointing. We've seen it unfold for a year and a half now.

Gibbs attacked US, not the other way around.
Expecting your base to play nice while you sell them out seems to be the neolib/DLC ideal of how things should be and when they're not, they attack.
Gibbs wouldn't have been in hot water had he attacked the real problem, a political party engaged in trying to shut government down to score political points in an election season by painting the opposition in power as ineffective. Gibbs was wildly off target and he was so in an insulting manner.
Face it, insulting a large part of your party's base in an election year is not the action of a smart man who wants his party to stay in power.
He needs a permanent vacation.

However, he isn't in hot water as evidenced by his statements today. He was speaking for the DLC administration, and that's despicable.

They never pass up a chance to say so.

12. "Eating its own" is too vivid and imprecise to characterize what's going on. |
|
A cooler tongue would say: "Gibbs has caused dissension in Democratic ranks by insulting the base." One hopes it costs him his job, and his ouster will be an opportunity to rebuild some recently burnt bridges.

Just me, but torture, war, and Gitmo aren't "deck chairs" and neither are the civil rigths of the GLBT crowd.
But maybe that's just me.

Obama and his cronies are engaged in demolishing their foundation. They might pull conservadems into their house, but it will all collapse because without the liberal democrats, there is no distinguishing democratic from republican policies. Would you rather run a campaign based on your opponent being the "just say no" party, or on actual issues that would help the american people?
