You realize Gibbs was promoting that "the Left won't keep you safe" crap |
|
with the little dig about "eliminating the Pentagon" which is just a complete fantasy. I guess that worked well against Dean in the past.
"Look! We're not left! They're weenies. They want government run healthcare and they want to dismantle the Pentagon" OMG!!!
These actually sound like Sarah Palin talking points the more you reflect upon his actual comments. And now he stands behind them. I haven't heard anything from the White House saying anything different have you?
He's sending a clear message that the Obama Administration is marginalizing and demonizing the left as unrealistic drug using socialist hippy peaceniks and are moving themselves even farther to the right in preparation for this election and the next Presidential.
I also think it is possible that they are planning something so controversial that they know without a doubt that the progressive left will leave them in droves and this is a preemptive move. I divorce you! You can't - I divorced you first! War with __________?, Gutting Social Security? Who knows? But Robert Gibbs knew very clearly the message he was sending and now while he admits it was "inartful", he stands with the content. Okey dokey. Stand by for a very bumpy ride.

5. It's almost like a further perceptible move to the right occurs daily: hopefully, this observation |
|
is unfounded for it would sound an almost certain death knell to this nation's financial solvency in the foreseeable future due to the unsustainable costs of perpetual wars, wildly irresponsible fiscal policies, and patently unfair tax policies wherein the most affluent and large corporations do not bear a reasonable share of the tax burden, all long-time hallmarks of the far-far-RW.

2. i'm betting on the gutting of SS |

really i hope the "professional left" (where's my official card??) points out repeatedly in the msm that they talk like abusive alcoholics to the people they depend on. so fucked up. Perhaps they want to lose some seats this Nov. so it doesn't appear that they have a democratic professional left mandate like they actually had and didn't follow.

4. I expect Obama will push very hard to get cuts to Social Security next year. |
|
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 05:55 PM by Marr
If he does it the following year, it'd be election time. Not wise. If he waits until after the election, it may never get done because he could lose the election. A Republican president would have a much harder time cutting Social Security than a corporate stooge Democrat.

Olberman they're talking about -- MAYBE Amy Goodman -- but that would be about it.
Not that I think even Amy has espoused doing Away with the pentagon.

7. No, that's one of the statements where you realize how far right they are. |
|
I think he was referring to just about everyone from Rachel Maddow on. This was the attack they used on Dean, after all, and he's hardly Amy Goodman.

6. Agreed, right wing frames all the way... |
|
..."weak on defense". "want universal health care". "wouldn't even be happy with an extremist like (gasp) Dennis Kucinich". "aren't real Americans"
No he did not make all of the above comments literally. But he did dog-whistle all of the above, unmistakably.

8. Yup, something wicked this way comes. |
|
It might just be a push for some centrist realignment stuff but something.
Don't be surprised if the game is to trash both party brands to hell so the establishment types can be the ones to create a viable third party under a false flag of moderation stealing "revolutionary" fever as a tool to cement control. Maybe leaving a few tragic cops/babysitters to keep the left in check and marginalized running after shadows and on wild goose chases.

very awesome stuff.
I think that the Deficit Commission is the handwriting on the wall of what is coming next. They are going after entitlements next, gut SS, slash Medicare etc.
They wont rest until they've got it all.

14. What is really going on here? |
|
They aren't that stupid. Gibbs is the SPOKESMAN for the Obama Administration. If he is taunting and ridiculing The Left, it is for a purpose. Gibbs' condescending "No Apology" performance yesterday puts to rest the excuse that his original comments just "slipped out". This whole thing IS calculated.
The only rational explanation is that the White House WANTS to lose seats in November. This WILL give them cover for quickly PASSING the Cat Food Committee's Recommendations immediately AFTER the elections,...AND Blaming the Left FOR the destruction of Social Security.
Yes. I believe they ARE that cold and calculating.

|
It's coming from an unsuspected corner, but it was pretty clear what was being said, notwithstanding all of the Gibbs Reinterpreters who have made it their life's mission to try to explain what a professional talker was really saying, and it wasn't what you think. Not at all. Really, you dirty fucking hippies are just so sensitive!
