15. No. Just politics. He knows most of us will vote for Democrats out of fear of republicans
Edited on Wed Aug-11-10 09:42 PM by old mark
and he is mining the center and refugee republicans for votes an support. Obama loves us when he feels he need our votes and will tell us anything, but will shine us on after the election and tell us we need drug testing for believing he actually meant what he said.

He is a great politician, maybe even better than Old Bill Clinton.
He is getting some good work done, but nowhere near what we really need and he is giving so much away that much of his legislation is nearly pointless.

I got hammered on GDP in '08 for saying that Obama is just another politician, but I stand by that. We need more than what he can give, and thus he is wasting valuable time.

Fired Up?
At one time, but no more.

21. Definitely...

For every new body that goes under the bus, the Democrats obviously get 12 new, previously unknown, sensible voters who wouldn't leave the house except for their hatred of those under the bus.

This weeks tally:

The Left.
The Hispanic Media.
Cornell West.
The "Progressive" Cable Media (such as it is).
Everyone horrified by the BP spill in the Gulf.

At this rate, its going to be a fucking Democratic landslide in November.

pissed off the "base" enough to make them think about not voting or voting for a third party candidate.

30. Nah, he's trying to reposition himself in the middle, triangulate, or whatever it's called.
And we are his ballast.

He won the primary by getting liberals on his side. He won the general by being, well, general, and talking about hope and change (hasn't every winning candidate in our lifetime used those two words as the center of their campaign? Clinton was even born in Hope!).

Now he's in danger of losing Congress because the Republicans are labeling him as a radical, a liberal, a commie, a fascist (which they think means liberal for some reason), and whatever other scary word they can call him.

So, time to smack us like ugly stepchildren in a Focus on the Family household. "See, they are bad, meanie-type people, and they bother me, too. I'm a moderate, all my Democrat buds are moderates. Them weirdo professional lefties, they scare me, too! I'll stand by you guys in the middle and we can throw stones together at them, how's that? By the way, vote for us in November, so we can protect you from those crazies."

If there was a strategy, that was it. I think it was more of a rant, though, against his critics because Gibbs doesn't know what else to do.

Now, honestly, if I loved what Obama was doing, I'd play along. "He never, ever gives us our way!! He's a moderate who doesn't love us, we are done with him! Wink! You moderates can have him, and enjoy voting for that moderate stuff you guys like because he's a moderate! Yes sir, and not a liberal at all!!"

Funny thing is, we're all playing along, anyway, because that's what we're saying. Only we mean it, because he hasn't done what we wanted. So maybe he is just playing chess with us pawns.

Whatever. I hope he wins, I hope we win in November, and I hope whatever he's doing works. I prefer an underachieving Dem to a full blown Republican any day. But I'm still going to yell about it. :)

Notice this came just days after his comment in Austin that he's real good at politicking? Coincidence, or conspiracy? You decide.
