After 23 months and some odd days, I finally have a job again.
After what has seemed like a lifetime of ever-growing despair, I have finally found another job.

It's not working as a business analyst like I have before but it's waiting tables and helping to open a new restaurant in downtown Denver.

I was in the hospitality industry for over a decade, but over a decade ago. It's been a very busy and hectic and trying week working at getting this place open. Moving furniture, cleaning and cleaning again, loading in dishes/glassware/flatware and everything else that's been going on is absolutely exhausting.

And it's really a great feeling.

Just wanted to share that.

Cheers

2. Congratulations!
I'm sure it's not ideal based on your past position, but I'm glad you're out there working again.

What's the new place? I'll be sure to bring my business your way!

Cheers! :toast:

You're over qualified but, let's hope it's temporary and you get the job you deserve in the very near future.

18. It will be your turn soon.
This opportunity fell in my lap when I least expected it. I figured I was too old to be taken seriously for any restaurant job and look what happened.

Good luck.

There is nothing better than good food too. Being on this stupid diet is making me appreciate how food enhances enjoyment of life.

23. Glad to see things are looking up for you!
Last week, my company finally hired me as a full-timer, worked there for just over a year and a half as a part-timer, and damned lucky to have had that after my former company announced they were closing the doors by the end of 2008.

You've got some great beers there in Denver, serve them proudly. Some day, I will be there for the Great American Beer Fest, and may pass by your way!

28. Congratulations. And remember that people who work in the hospitality
industry get in great shape because they are moving all day. It is good for you if not your feet.

30. Good for you! I hope the restaurant is a raving success and you are too.
Service can make or break a restaurant. They're lucky to have someone like you representing them in the front of the house. Restaurant work can be quite rewarding and addictive. At least you don't bring it home with you at night - unless you're an owner! When your shift is over, it's over.

32. BRAVO! Sometimes just having a job where you can physically
move and see the end result right away instead of years later is awesome. I answer phones and work in a warehouse for my sissy to cover lunches and after a lifetime of teaching, its totally awesome to be physical and see the end result of the thing I'm doing right away. I am so happy for you. I bet your restaurant will be great.
