Krugman calls Gibbs "stupid" - twice.
He repeats it to make sure it gets through Gibbs thick head:
"But if you vent for the sake of venting; if you alienate people you’re going to need; then you’re just being stupid."
...
"Denouncing the people giving voice to those real concerns as the “professional left” is both unfair and, as I’ve said, stupid."

3. I think he was just arrogant and I despise that.
Spit on the worker bees and you'll find the hive produces little honey. I'd like an apology from Gibbs and clarification of who he's talking to.

5. Keep waiting.
Gibbs did his job and accurately represented the views of the administration.

8. I'm sorry, but Gibbs is behaving like a cow town hick.
And (with his affirmation of that message yesterday) proud of it.

Which, hey, that's fine, but don't expect people to descend to your level.

23. That's an insult to cow town hicks.
;)

"Cow town hick" politicians certainly understand that every vote counts, and it's not smart to piss off groups of voters who reliably show up and pull the lever.

10. Gibbs is coming off as arrogant and disrespectful to the very people
who put him where he is today.

He must retract what he said, and apologize. Obama needs to force him to do it, or find someone else who has more respect for the voters to do that job.

12. Please note that Krugman did NOT call Gibbs stupid.
He called his comments stupid.

Just like Rahm, who technically didn't call anyone retarded.

22. Juvenile rationalization at it's best.
"I did not take your dessert/paper/tool/etc....I only borrowed it."

"We don't hate sinners. We hate their sin."

14. I'm glad Krugman responded -
because I believe he is one of the folks Gibbs et al may be especially upset with. Krugman goes back and forth, but lately he's had some pretty damning commentary about economics. Not surprised it would catch the administration's attention...

17. And doing it in an election year is monumentally stupid
because it looks like the party will need every vote it can get and pissing off a sizable chunk of the party base is not going to do it.

I've never seen someone appear as smug as that bastard does. Gibbs has smug little rich boy written all over him.

29. He should know better - his parents are librarians
And he got his political start helping his mother at League of Women's Voters events in Auburn, Alabama.

That just makes me even angrier that he made the kind of comments he did.

26. Krugman's labled Gibbs's actions as stupid, not Gibbs himself
And that's as it should be. Especially for a columnist at the NY Times.

It's not the Press Secretary's fault the President has an unpopular view of the left.
