Rev Wright was the most famous of these, but we all know the list. That, however, is just history and at best tangential to this post.

The Gibbs thing seems to have longer legs than the Rahm stuff a while back, but I'm not sure how long they are compared to, say, Rev. Wright (who, we should all recall, actually said something truthful, albeit maybe too hot for mass consumption).

The question: Will he distance himself from Gibbs?

1. How can he without firing him?
He's the voice of the White House.

They wanted Gibbs to say what he said.

3. Yup
It was calculated. I'm a bit curious about the "throat problem" that stretched this out for another day.

6. He hadn't done that already? How much more distance does he need?

We already HAVE a republican party. Is he going to seek *its* nomination and spurn ours?

Or perhaps he wants both?

7. He should, but it appears he prefers to distance himself from people to his left.
That means Gibbs is secure.
