Grand Isle Police Department statistics show that crime is down.

You read that right, there is no crime wave. But the way things are headed, that rate could go up any minute now.

Last week, five residents displayed Confederate flags, while others hoisted the skull-and-crossbones.

What also pisses me off is that BP reacted to GI's racism by drug testing its employees, when crime had actually gone DOWN in that community. Maybe I could see it if crime had gone up but it had not. It didn't say what those 400 workers tested positive for. It also didn't say how many of those 400 had simply refused to take the test. Of those who refused, how many simply refused as a protest against being asked to be tested simply because a racist community decided that people of color were a danger when crime had actually gone down?

There comes a time when simeple human dignity outweighs the need for a job. That might have been the time for at least some of those workers.
