My Letter to my Congressman regarding Robert Gibbs |
|
Congressman Moran:
You have been a fair and decent representative of my district, and I thank you for your time and effort. I have consistently voted for you and would love to be there at the ballot box for you this year, but I am concerned about the tone that the Democratic Party has taken in recent months.
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs has denounced my involvement in the political process as insignificant because he believes that I do not represent "the real America" because I have a few critical thoughts about the way the President has governed. I am now considered the "professional left."
I hold my civic duties dear to my heart, and gladly waited four hours to cast my ballot for you, Senator Warner, and President Obama the weekend before the 2008 election just so that others wouldn't have a lengthy wait on the day of the election. I was very pleased with the outcome, and I know that it was the Northern Virginia area that swung the state for President Obama.
This year I will not be as generous. I have been denigrated for the final time by the Obama Administration, and I feel as if the Congressional leadership has not stepped up to defend me and voters of my ilk. I am extremely loyal, but I am also not stupid.
I will perform my civic duty and vote this year, but I cannot guarantee that my vote will go to you or any other Democratic candidate unless I see true leadership in support of your base.
Sincerely,
|

1. This is the kind of "threats" that might make a difference |
|
You are engaging in heavy persuasion my friend. And the bottom line is... they need our votes.

What does your Congressman have to do with Robert Gibbs? Gibbs is employed by the administration not Congress. Gibbs didn't break any laws that you are aware of so there is not reason for a congressional hearing.
I don't get it. bothered the congressman for a silly little hate-fest. I guess the congressman needed a laugh.

4. It was a respectful letter based on her feelings, why are you mocking it? Arrogant as Gibbs. |

11. Many here believe that Democrats can be re-elected *WITHOUT* our votes. |
|
It's the latest from of magical thinking, and it's all the rage among many professional centrists.
Good luck to them, I guess.

6. The problem isn't Gibbs--it's a lack of respect and consideration |
|
for the Democratic base.
If the executive branch doesn't value us, then the congressional branch has to step in and defend us.
If congressional candidates want our votes, then they need to show leadership and protect their base of voters. One way to show appreciation is to defend when your base is attacked.
Gibbs attacked the Democratic base. Spin it anyway you'd like, but deal with the reality of the situation.

9. It's a shame you don't get it. |

Any of the 435 members of the House or the 100 Senators have a far better chance of being heard than any of us. So if this person's Member feels his job is on the line, then maybe he'll be just that much more motivated to speak to the President and remind him what a damnedfoolstupid thing Gibbs did.
Politics ain't bean-bag.
