18. There are public safety issues that have to be nailed down
before any announcement.

15. following this on Twitter now
lots of buzz and confusion but according to reports, those in line at the courthouse are being allowed to fill out paperwork for marriage licenses in anticipation of a ruling. Still no confirmation on a decision.

25. God I love going to San Francisco. I don't go enough!
It's the one city I feel that I can walk around in and almost everyone I meet is going to smile and agree with me about something.

I went to the Castro on Valentine's day and the weather was warm and everyone was outside having a great day on the sidewalks. Made me feel great!

Then they signed off. WTF is going on??

28. The slow and irritating legal process
The one-week thing is about allowing proponents of Prop8 a chance to appeal. I frankly hope they give it the fuck up but sadly, their hate is what feeds them.

30. Can they appeal lifting the stay? Wouldn't they have to file
for a new stay on different grounds? Where's merh? I'm way over my head here. lol

31. I am no legal type
I just know that's what they said on the teevee. This has been the caveat since Judge Walker declared Prop8 unconstitutional - it's not over and it will likely end up before the SCOTUS.

33. Right. It's also possible that Walker is being very deliberate
so that his work can't be thrown out later on some claim of bias.

by not making his orders effective until the 18th.

32. It appears he will not give a further stay but he extended this stay
until the 18th for them to get an appelate stay.

Judge Vaughn Walker set the deadline Thursday to give gay marriage opponents time to appeal to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. If the appeals court fails to act by 5 p.m. local time next Wednesday, then gay marriages can go forward.
