The legal argument against gays and lesbians getting married
"We want to be bigots and want to hurt other people because we love God and think homos are icky."

***********

No longer a question of if gay marriage will be the law of the land but when it will become the law of the land.

1. What kills me is they hold up signs like this and then try to say they're
not bigoted, they just want to "preserve" marriage. Stupidity and bigotry go hand-in-hand.

2. As a straight guy I can't fathom why anybody would care if and when .....
..... other people get married or have sex.

What really bothers me is staying home all day so people can come over and install some flooring
and they still haven't shown up. :grr: And I removed the toilet so they could install the flooring
..... and it was my only toilet in my house.

3. Are you married? Because if you are...
...I bet your wife is even unhappier about the removal of that ONE toilet.

We always have trees, you know!

5. I was married but its failure had nothing to do w/ "the gays"
Although a really nice gay friend spent the night of my break up talking to me ....
the wife I don't miss at all but being away from my son was rough.

My son is spending the summer w/ me and would like to have crapper working
when he gets home tonight.

whether or not gay people marry. Being without a toilet would be a BIG deal to me, the economy is a big deal, employment is another biggie, the environment affects us too. Geez these homophobes need to get a life, badly.

I might add that here in our state we have marriage equality. We also had the nation's first civil union law for 10 years previous to that. The effect of this on our marriage? Zippo, zilcho, rien, nadda....

14. didn't you see the fine print? if gays can marry then all the straight married folks
have to get divorced and go marry someone of the same sex. :sarcasm:

my husband's best friend is gay. he is actually visiting currently and bob and he may go out and hang out at a bar or something. am i worried? of course not. i wish mikey and his boyfriend could get married like my husband and i were free to do. it's discrimination. if you don't believe in gay marriage, then DON"T MARRY SOMEONE OF THE SAME SEX. beyond that MIND YOUR OWN DAMNED BUSINESS!! if you really want to address something that hurts marriage, ban divorce. that would fix it. lol.

13. Regarding the "Gay Agenda" ... yes, they do have one ...
Their plan: Destroy Traditional Marriage

I got this information from my wife ... apparently her hairstylist left his copy of the gay agenda at his station and she read it when he went to check on another customer.

Here is the gist of how it works.

1) Two gay men buy the house next to yours. They fix up the yard, and it is immaculate. They win the homeowner's association "yard of the month" over and over. As a result, your wife starts to demand that YOU put down your beer, and get your fat, lazy, hair covered chia-pet like body off the couch, and fix up her lawn.

2) The gay guys then invite your wife over for lunch. The food they serve is better than at any restaurant that you take her to, and he is blown away by the way they decorated their house. It is fabulous. She comes home wanting to spend a fortune redecorating YOUR house. "Fortunately", the gay guys provided lots of sketches. You want to scream.

3) Your wife, along with the gay guys, agree that YOUR clothing is hideous. They go shopping together and get you an entire new wardrobe comprised of mostly pastel colors. They all agree that pastel's work best wth your skin tone, what ever the %$$#$ that means.

4) So one day while you are out "fixing up" your lawn, one of the gay guys approaches you and says that he was talking to your wife, and that he might have some suggestions or recommendations about getting your back waxed. At this point you flip out and attack the gay guy. Which is a really dumb move because you are fat and lazy and in terrible shape, and the gay guy is trim fit because he goes to the gym twice a day. He subdues you easily, until the police arrive.

5) After bailing you out of jail, your wife files for divorce. And because of your violent attack on the guy next door, she gets the house and you have to move into a trailer.

6) A few weeks later, you hear that your wife is renting a room in the house. The renter is a friend of the gay guys next door, she's a gay woman.

7) Your 5 state killing spree begins.

8) The gay guys become friends with the women who lives across the street, and they repeat the plan.

See how devious they are!!

:yoiks:

16. Any time some idiot from the far right references the "gay agenda" ...
That's what I post, or email back to them.

Their fear is so ridiculous, I just had to carry it to its "logical" conclusion.

10. We have gay marriage here, remember........
It hasn't done a thing for the decor of the airports or city hall, but the restaurants are amazing......including Abundance!

And gay marriage is just marriage...and should be legal, so that those who choose may provide for their partners and whatever children they may have. It's justice, not just us.

17. Being right--having the correct theory--is very important to these people.
Edited on Thu Aug-12-10 04:17 PM by mnhtnbb
Otherwise, who knows what could happen?

The opponents--the right wing "Christians"--can't handle thinking for themselves. It's too scary.
If other people aren't required to follow their rules, well, then the possibility exists
that they don't have to follow "the rules", either. The problem is, their "rules" are based
on arguments from another time and place (2000 years ago)which are meaningless in a society
that has evolved to value "liberty and justice for all".

On edit: it's the same reason so many of them fight the concept of evolution: it implies change.
They can't handle change.

20. Here's one against it:
Marriage is a religious union and the state has no business certifying any marriage, straight or gay.

24. but why is the STATE licensing them?
when a religion and the state do the SAME THING, there's going to be confusion and contention over what "marriage" means.

i recognize the inevitability of marriage equality before the STATE, but i do not recognize the equivalence of a religious marriage and a civil marriage before the law. what many many uptight americans don't get that they are not the same. i want my church and my state separate.

the reason this argument always shows up is because i always make it.

25. You weren't the only one I saw
JonQ was the first one and he's been banned since.

I'm not sure how they are different when it comes to benefits and things like tax forms and such. I'm not at all confused about a marriage in a church or one in a courtroom. I believe they are recognized as the same thing under the state.

23. But if gays are truly possessed by demons, couldn't the h8ers get standing if ...
they claimed that they were demons. Then they would be the possessors of the gays who get married, so avoid this problem (from the ruling):

"Proponents also point to harm resulting from “a cloud of uncertainty” surrounding the validity of marriages performed after judgment is entered but before proponents’ appeal is resolved. Doc #705 at 10. Proponents have not, however, alleged that any of them seek to wed a same-sex spouse."

After all, there is a credible argument that the h8ers are, in fact, demonic. ;-)

27. Frankly, these h8ters should mind their own business.
The right for same-sex marriage is not going to hurt them or anyone else. Those protesters are simply cowards who are projecting their own issues on everyone else.
