1. Short answer: no.

The D. base pays attention. It will take more than urgent words to make us all feel like we haven't been had. There would need to have been something really substantial to point to as far as accomplishments and they're just aren't any. The best they can say is they avoided economic disaster, and even that is looking doubtful.

Anyway, how would voting Republican help our chances in November?

2. Does "Mainstream Democrats" = "'Reagan Democrats'?"
'Cos that's what it feels like.

5. Nah, just the usually dependable Democratic voters. They show up every 2 years and cast a ballot
Because they believe it is the right thing to do.

6. It feels like there's too many factors to tell yet.
Republicans are hating their own party more but they are also hating us more. I don't know.

16. I am very interested in our turn out.
Since hatred motivates the wingnuts, I'm a little afraid they'll use that to get their voters out.

Boxer is having a tough time here. I think Brown will do okay. But it still depends on turn out because all those people that hate Whitman won't do any good unless they get out and vote for Jerry. I don't think this state will survive another corporate rightwing @sshole. Arnold pretty much terminated us. :(

18. Brown will finish very strong. Whitman will garner 44% of the vote, at best.

19. Most people aren't even thinking about the election yet.
Polls this far out from an election don't mean much. There's plenty of time.

20. Bleh... whatever.
I like Boxer, and I'll vote for her... but whenever I try to think about it, I can't see as it matters one way or another. Democrats are so worried about pandering to the selfish-esque Goldwater independents that they're afraid to push any policy that would make any change... so— fuck it. Who cares? Aside from the off chance of another lunatic like GWB who will go off the rails, it really doesn't make any difference who is in power, policy-wise. There will be illegal wiretapping of the citizenry either way. The telecom companies will be immunized from any prosecution because of millions of instances of violations of privacy laws. Politicians and policy makers will be insulated from prosecution for war crimes. War crimes, including arbitrary assassination, will continue apace. Wall St. Fraud will be investigated, and then excused. Industry safety violations that result in deaths will result in fines that are hardly noticed, while seat belt violation fines are augmented until they are punitive enough to be a substantial burden on violators.

Bleh, whatever.
