Whats your opinion of Chuck Todd?
I am starting to enjoy his coverage standing in on Hardball. I think he is much more knowledgable than Matthews. While I can pick up a conservative slant occasionally, I do not think it massively affects his reporting.

He is going to talk about the Dems attacking W. good plan / bad plan, and he just pointed out how the republicans attacked Carter for like a decade. I thought it was very good reporting there.

1. I like Todd. Nobody's perfect, but he's pretty much fair most of the time.

2. Fence-sitter
He's following in the footsteps of Tweety, now that his mentor is gone.

It took Tweets many years to finally have a real opinion..

3. Media weather-vane ... like Tweety.
Todd has no problem focusing on the what ever part of his poll results push any given "controversy". Like Tweety, it is the SPIN that matters, not the reality.

9. He knows that Meet the Press is his next
unless some other network swoops him up, which I doubt because he is very comfortable in his role on NBC.

22. He is the PROTOTYPE "liberal" media member ...
I remember when he was just breakin in during the early to mid 2000s ... He did those early morning "roll call" bits on C-Span ...

I remember liking him, he CLEARLY was a progressive, he got excited when he reported good news for dems ...

As he started to climb the ladder on MSNBC/NBC, I saw him take the turn ... Only way to get ahead in the MSM is to adhere to the role - dems in trouble, mitigate and republican negative ... He clearly started to get that perverse hatred of dems that you see in most MSMers, a disdain, with a deference to republicans ...

He sold out to get ahead, and he is a clear example of what the Rs derisively terms the "liberal" media - early on, Todd likely was a democrat voter, but anyone who gets ahead takes the turn he takes, and assimilates the disdain for Ds and water carrying for the Rs that they all have ...

It is what it is, you can't blame him, he is making A LOT more money than he probably ever could have imagined ... Choices in life - an average guy with an average job being a progressive, or a big wig MSMer playing the deride the Ds game ...

24. That's exactly what I was going to say.
Like Matthews, his only use is as a barometer of Beltway conventional wisdom.

8. I can't stand him.
He was on the Today Show this morning spinning the results of the latest poll. He is usually low on facts but just full of opinions (which he presents as fact). He may have toned down his bias for Hardball.

17. He'll say whatever using the slant producers asks that he uses......
sometimes it will come out fair, and many times he won't.
Sometimes it's not what is covered that gives us slanted coverage,
it's what is not.

20. I read him and the show differently
I think the host has more say in how or what to cover than you do. Also, I think Todd is one who prides himself in getting the details. I don't equate him with a Rachel Maddow in that respect, but I think he is superior to many others in reporting on the details.
