18. Ack! BYU? No caffeine, either.
I was attending a small conference in Provo many years back, and the young men had gathered for their upcoming missions. I was playing tennis with a friend, and the guys in their black pants, white shirts, and ties were going here and there in large groups. There was a young lady (co-ed) who was leaning out her dorm window, and she'd holler, "Hi, Elder!", and every one of these guys within ear shot would look up and wave. She'd start giggling, and repeat the process every few minutes.

11. Now that's what I call Liberty!
"Student participation in on-campus demonstrations, petitions or picketing is prohibited unless approved by Liberty University administration. The administration may also prohibit or restrict student participation in demonstrations, petitions or picketing at places other than on campus, where such participation would contradict or otherwise compromise the principles and policies of Liberty University.

Distribution of literature is permitted on campus only when prior administrative approval has been secured from the Student Life Office, University Relations or Field Operations. Distribution of literature in the residence halls requires written approval from the Residence Life Office

Students should learn to choose music that honors the Savior and is in harmony with God's word. Music that is offensive (i.e., lewd lyrics, anti-Christian messages, etc.) to Liberty's Christian stand is not permitted

Hair and clothing styles related to counterculture (as determined by the Deans’ Review Committee) are not acceptable.
"

Mindboggling. And remember that this is their vision for YOUR America.

12. Here's the really sexy part:
"We affirm that the return of Christ for all believers is imminent. It will be followed by seven years of great tribulation, and then the coming of Christ to establish His earthly kingdom for a thousand years. The unsaved will then be raised and judged according to their works and separated forever from God in hell. The saved, having been raised, will live forever in heaven in fellowship with God."

Apparently, it doesn't matter one whit what your "works" are, if you haven't been saved. Yur burnin'.

Really, really happy stuff.

22. Student employment....
So do they all work at Chuck E Cheese or what? Their little rule book seems to eliminate any other chances of gainful employment:

In maintaining a reputation in the marketplace consistent with the philosophy of Liberty University, employment will not be permitted where a student (as a major, active part of his/her job) is required to violate the policies and principles of the University. Any questions regarding employment at Liberty University or within the community may be directed to any Student Affairs Dean.

24. My favorite...hand holding rules.
This is in the rules for dating...

"Handholding is the only appropriate form of personal contact."

And then there's this one, which sounds a bit like the Taliban...

"After dusk, students should not be alone with an individual of the opposite sex in any unlighted area..."

25. Surprised they don't do corporal punishment..he saw it as a "fond" memory
Edited on Tue May-15-07 08:10 PM by rainbow4321
Ok...how fucked up is one's childhood when you recall being whipped by the teacher as a "fond memory"???

http://www.bhsbees.com/jerry_falwell_bio.htm

I skipped the second grade by the recommendation of the teacher and Mr. Finch, and landed in the third grade taught by Miss Ida Claire Garbee. Among other things, she taught me how to behave in class. This was my first encounter with corporal punishment, in the form of a willow switch, administered by Miss Garbee while I was standing in front of the class with my pants legs pulled up. There was no court of appeal and no ACLU. They would never have dared to challenge Miss Garbee. Sadly, Mom then repeated the corporal punishment when I arrived home, having received a phone call from Miss Garbee. As I look back, I consider Miss Garbee to be one of my finest teachers ever. There were many other fond memories at MVES.
-----------------------------
And "escalated" mischief????:

I attended Brookville High School (BHS) for grades 8-11. There was no 12th grade in Campbell County high schools when I graduated in 1950. I was fullback and captain of the football team. I was also editor-in-chief of the school newspaper and graduated as valedictorian. The records will also show that my third grade mischief had somewhat escalated by the time I was in high school, resulting in my not being allowed to deliver the valedictorian address.

We went through two or three principals during my four years at BHS. Some have blamed me and my buddies for this attrition.
