Poll question: If you were representing the democratic party..
Edited on Tue May-15-07 06:03 PM by KennedyGuy
What if you were speaking to a group of independant voters and were trying to convey the values of the democratic party..
What image do you think would win over more voters?

2. This poll is certainly NOT about winning over voters
But it sure IS about keeping people from expressing viewpoints that differ from yours.

It actually looks like the type of push-polling we've come to expect from Faux Noise.

Mission accomplished? :sarcasm:

8. Huh?
How does a poll REMOTELY come close to "keeping people from expressing viewpoints that differ from yours?" Do you really think this poll is going to keep ONE SINGLE DUER from expressing a different viewpoint than the OP?

I'd appreciate an answer to both questions.

12. here's your answers
"attacking fellow democrats that show compassion for Falwell" - let's make those who don't share that compassion the bad guys the bad guys? This is straight out of the repuke revisionist poll-writing handbook. I haven't seen threats of violence, have you?

I find this sort of wording of a poll, to paint one side as *attackers* inflammatory. And quite frankly, your second question cannot be truthfully answered, because we have no way of knowing if this poll has kept anyone from expressing their viewpoint. Unless of course, you have a crystal ball.

13. You have given no evidence that this poll
keeps people from expressing their view. If you want evidence that this polls has had no effect whatsoever, go look in GP and GDP. Pre-poll, there were lots of DUers who have no sympathy for Falwell, lots of DUers who have some sympathy. Post-poll, there are still lots of DUers who have no sympathy for Falwell, lots of DUers who have some sympathy.

I don't care if some disagrees with the OP or not, but accusing him or her of stifling free speech is ridiculous imo. It's a discussion board. We discuss.

I didn't even vote in this poll by the way.

5. Damn near everybody in this country's happy Falwell's dead.
Independent voters included.

In fact, the only people that I figure aren't are Bush supporters, concern trolls, and the Holier-than-thou church lady types.

6. But I'm not
We're not, if I understand DU correctly. We have independents and Republicans, and we exchange widely differing opinions. I represent only myself. I'm sure most are in a similar position.

11. Funny ... I thought it was a matter of representing PEOPLE, not a party.
Sounds to me like the same ol' "means has become an end" - an ancient story.
