Don't buy gas if it is over $ 2.999 EVERY Monday ?
I know the goal is quite modest and it does not take into account
price fluctuations from region to region, but it's a start.

Why not try this ?

In North East Ohio, many places drop the price a few cents over the
weekend so buy on Sat or Sun and don't fill up if the price is over

$ 2.999 /gallon

Plus, You can always buy it on Tuesday.

Keep doing this every Monday, and we may find out what happens when
millions of consumers protest these atrocious prices.

What say you ?

1. I say it's better than the one day boycott thing
however, I still have doubts that it would do any good. :(

6. the one day boycott did not pose any real threat to gas stocks...
piling up.

But having to incur employee wages every monday without gas sales
to cover the overhead costs will start station owners grumbling,
which will work its way up the chain.

There has to be an impact eventually.

Thank you for entertaining the idea.

2. won't work
it's not when you buy the gas - it's how much we buy.

Plus - it's way over 2.999 in most places. In L.A. it is 3.50 for regular now

3. It doesn't matter if it doesn't work. The helpless need to feel like they are doing something.
Logic and how the market works have nothing to do with this. As for myself, I buy gas when I need it and don't drive when I don't need to drive. Simple concept. We are at an all time high for gas yet demand is up 1% over a year ago. If everybody drove less and thus had to buy less gas, the price would go down. Simple concept.

4. OK, then I'll offer a dead bug to the god of gas.
Just to feel better.

5. Probably work as well as not buying gas on Monday, but on Sunday or Tuesday.
Plus, it would make you feel better. It would make you feel like you are really, really doing something.

7. These types of measure - that don't change the amount of gas bought - cannot work
Why can't people get that?

You want to affect the oil industry? It has GOT to cost you something. All these silly games that allow you to still buy all the gas you were going to buy anyway are just fine with the oil industry.

Until you start denying yourselves the oil you want, they don't care what you do.
