if petreaus doesn't agree with the President on afghan withdrawal, he should resign
or Obama should fire him.

the NINE YEAR war in afghanistan is a disaster.

now we have the commander 'promoting a win'.

unfuckingbelievable.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Gen. David H. Petraeus, the commander of American and NATO forces, began a campaign on Sunday to convince an increasingly skeptical public that the American-led coalition can still succeed here despite months of setbacks, saying he had not come to Afghanistan to preside over a “graceful exit.”

1. Of course not. He doesn't HAVE to agree with the Prez.
He DOES howeve have to obey orders, and I'm sure he will when the time comes.

2. Who says he doesn't agree with the president
After all, this is the same president who doubled down twice on the war. Petraeus is simply providing cover for the administration come next year.

4. What makes you think the General isn't using the same playbook as President Obama?

6. Frankly I do think that they're using the same playbook
Next year's supposed "withdrawal" is going to be pretty much in name only. Obama will pull back a handful of troops, crow about how he is wrapping up the war, and the carnage will continue unabated.

10. Reality Check. Petreus took a demotion to help the President.
The President now owes him. The President will listen
to Petreus.

I am not saying this is right, wrong or indifferent.
--just saying what is.
