I wonder if people against the NYC mosque are against catholic churches near schools or bus stops |
|
after all, we all know the reputation of catholic priests and children. Amirite?

But I love the attempt to equate being anti-mosque-at-Ground-Zero with being pro-pedophile. Makes me think of Rosemary Woods.

7. Yeah. I'm sure John Cornyn represents a lot of them. |

These people have spent most the last decade rubbing salt into very real wounds.
Nobody can heal so long as people continue to scapegoat others who had NOTHING to do with the attacks. Indeed, there are some who will never heal - that's an unfortunate part of the human condition. They will go to their graves blaming every Muslim in the world for what happened that day. And they will be wrong, just as McCain was wrong in saying he will never stop hating the gooks.
But we don't overturn the constitution on those grounds.
The families of the victims have my sympathy - but they don't get to override the law, nor should they. Constructing a Muslim community center that will not be visible either to or from the WTC site does not diminish the tragedy of that day. Letting the terrorist force us into overturning the separation of church and state - THAT diminishes us.

8. I'm particularly struck by Newt Gingrich... |
|
...who spent his congressional career practically calling New York City an "axis of evil" in his stump speeches for his Georgia district. (and if the phrase had been coined at the time, I would have bet money he'd use it for real.)
But, of course, we're talking about Newt here, so the question "Have you no shame, sir?" would be greeted with hysterical laughter.
