1. It's sickening the childishness displayed by everyone involved, including MSNBC.
They're getting more and more trashy by the day.

Heads up! More Jersey Shore news coming right up.

2. What controversy?
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 11:23 AM by jtuck004
Have we repealed the 1st amendment? If this is a mosque, then...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

So not a controversy. Settled law. (surely the folks who keep throwing the constitution around as if it were a weapon are pushing this)

Unless it's not a mosque, and instead it's a community center. If it's a community center, then it's a place to play pool on a hot afternoon, not a training ground for terrorists, eh?

3. Which just proves how "liberal" our corporate media really is
I've just come to the realization that the "liberal media" isn't really "liberal" in the sense that they have a "liberal" bias in their reporting but rather that their reporting is based on an extremely "liberal" interpretation of the facts. :eyes:

4. It's simple: If you'd let a church, but not a mosque, be built on that site, you're fucked up.
It's hard to believe that conservatives are saying that the government should tell people of faith where they can build their houses of worship.

I always thought they said it was us lousy atheists who always were trying to shut down religion. Oh, that's right, just as the puritans of old, only their religion is really a religion.

9. not sure where you are but our local news was absorbed into the RW years ago
I haven't trusted the locals for anything resembling truth or balance for a decade.

MSNBC, however, is the last bastion of actual truth on cable.

My only gripe is that they, like our Pres. and his administration, have consistently allowed the psychotic right wingers to set the agenda and the topics. Just when we were all getting fired up to do real financial reform... boom! the right wingers fire up the immigration debate. After that it was the terror-mosque that wasn't a terror-mosque. Each time the right passes gas the White House drops everything and runs around like chickens with their heads cut off for two or three weeks. And then the "media" jumps right on the bandwagon and drops whatever tiny nuggets of "real" news they were planning to cover.

The blind leading the blind. How many times do we have to watch this same moronic cycle repeat till the White House and the legitimate media (MSNBC) realize that they are being played like a fiddle.

14. Not to defend MSNBC on this, but we shouldn't leave CNN out.
I got back into the country Saturday, and while waiting for my final hop at JFK, I was treated to some twit on CNN reporting on this story. The series of smirks and her tone of voice made made it quite clear that she thought it was just terrible that the Moslems would even think of building a mosque anywhere in this country. All the good feeling IO had after passing through Customs, right down the drain.

1. If you have a job, who has the time to worry about shit like this?

2. If you don't have a job, who has the time to worry about shit like this?
