Maybe if NYC had gotten it's shit together and actually BUILT something at ground zero already.... |
|
We wouldn't have to even debate whether or not a mosque should be built there.
I intend to use that meme to reply to all the righties who mention how "inappropriate" it is to have a mosque so near ground zero.

2. Unlike launching elective invasions, building on holy ground is a serious undertaking |

5. While it's true we have been saddled with an incompetent Republican.... |
|
Edited on Mon Aug-16-10 03:49 PM by Smarmie Doofus
.. mayor who has been unable to do pretty much anything right besides PR for the last ten years , it would be quite impossible for the city under any circumstance to have built on that site as it is privately owned.
Also... it is not at ground zero, but two blocks away.
edit to change "bedsides" to "besides";
Anyone else notice that bedbugs and Bloomberg seemed to get here at about the same time?

7. I like your spirit, but please, it's not "at" ground zero |
|
you are feeding a myth with loose language like that.
Here's a thought I also liked from a couple of days ago on the forum: If there were a mosque in the WTC complex on 9/10/01, would there have ever been an attack there?
Tolerance expressed sincerely and early can avoid so much violence...

8. Are they planning something |
|
They've been saying there are plans, but is it because people don't want to forget or they just have no idea what they want to do?

9. Really, The Empire State Building took 14 months. That's right... |
|
...14 fucking months from ground breaking till completion and now we're almost 9 years into the 9/11 thing and they can't even agree on a plan. What a Joke!

|
Every time I go by on the subway I see all these people working... WTF are they doing? Nothing's getting built.

16. BTW, Bloomberg was originally a Democrat who ran as a repub, because |
|
the Democratic field was too crowded in 2000/2001. He eventually changed to Independent.

19. Seriously, so long as it still looks so raw, it's an easy symbol to use to play on emotions |
|
Not that we should get over 9/11 and forget the whole thing. But it doesn't look anything like the triumph of capitalism. Buildings that would make Ayn Rand proud.
So while the site remains like an open grave it can be used by the right wing at the drop of a hat. Forget that the republicans refused to fund health care for the selfless workers who sacrificed their health and lives to find people buried within the rubble. All that matters is how they can use anything and anybody to regain their momentum in the goal of dominating all three branches of government. Once they do that, their fascist goal will be achieved.
