Some things are simply not negotiable.

They are not subject to votes.

And they sure as hell should not be suppressed or eliminated by hate, by mob mentalities, by political opportunism, or by political cowardice.

Now excuse me while I return to preparing to teach my students what is right.

Peace.

3. You should also teach them that just because you can doesn't mean you should.
Being provocative has consequences. I'm sure anybody posting here understands that. Your well meaning post turns in to a flame war and you are like WTH?

But sometimes you can predict that your post will stir up emotions. Then it is post at your own peril! If you can't handle the feedback it is inadvisable.

But the worst thing is if you have a feeling you could provoke things, you do so anyway, and other people get hurt.

You can take on consequences for yourself but you should not do things that will harm others.

5. Provoking people does not always do harm.
Edited on Wed Aug-18-10 01:17 PM by RandomThoughts
although I do agree that angry arguments have little value, sometimes when I am provoked I think on things more.

And if someone has a different view then me, and they can not discuss it, then they have to be provoked either to show me why I am wrong or learn why they are wrong. Since the provoking can get some thought on a topic.

Basically the concept of not doing that can only be defended if someone can have a view that is wrong because they are more special then someone else.

Unless you are talking about something else.

I think it would be wrong to let someone go through life with wrong views, including me, so think creating the thinking on topics, either in me, or others is a good thing.

Although you touch on a concept said by Dr. Who, do we have the right to let them feel? Then they will see all they are. That is a counter arguement to that, and depends if they have the ability to make a difference or if they are currently hurting someone.

If someone is doing little harm, and could not help anyone, then letting them coast with less then best ideas, is not that damaging, but if people are hurting people, or have the ability to help people then the pain of empathy and conscious that can sometimes happen, is less then both the help and reward from empathy.

So you don't show a person that is poor with many things on there mind pictures of starving people asking for money, but you could show them to people with more time to think on those issues, or with resources. Although sometimes to reach people with resources, everyone has to see them.
