A disclaimer.

That’s what the head of the Democratic Governors Association wants to see on the Fox News Channel, given its parent company’s $1 million donation to the Republican Governors Association.

It was reported earlier this week that the News Corporation, controlled by Rupert Murdoch, made the unusual contribution in June. The company said it was supporting the Republicans’ pro-business agenda.

Democrats seized on the donation as a demonstration of bias on the part of the News Corporation, and in particular at Fox News, which is well known for its stable of conservative hosts.

On Wednesday, the Democratic Governors Association’s executive director, Nathan Daschle, sent a letter to the Fox News chairman, Roger Ailes, about the issue.

Mr. Daschle requested that “you add a formal disclaimer to your news coverage any time any of your programs cover governors or gubernatorial races between now and Election Day.”

He even proposed language for the disclaimer:

News Corp., parent company of Fox News, provided $1 million to defeat Democratic governors in November.

Mr. Daschle copied many of the news network’s anchors on the message, and said they should “demand that the contribution be returned” if a disclaimer is not added. He has also repeatedly requested to come on Fox to talk about the donation.
