1986 Larry Flynt publishes my "Falwell Fifty" graphic 50 dollar bill in Hustler, True Story.
In 1986 I was creating money with famous fascists on it, treasonous bastards, and other ilk of the Republican caste. So upon hearing of Falwell's "win" in the Courts against Larry Flynt I created a "Falwell Fifty" - a $50 bill where I'd slapped in a caricature of Falwell in the place of Grant, and added a Pignose to him - along with a symbol that morphed a Cross and the Dollar sign, and other rude statements.

Just for fun, I watercolored it and sent it off to Larry Flynt, in the letter I said, "Hey, why not pay the guy off with THESE instead of real money.."

To my surprise I got a letter back with a check for $300 from Larry Flynt Publications, and a note that said my "Falwell Fifty" was going to be PUBLISHED in Hustler mag in an upcoming issue. Blew my mind. When it came out I bought about 10 issues from all over town, it was really something to be able (this was in Seattle) to walk into any store, like the one on the corner from my apartment, and BUY a Hustler with something I'd created INSIDE of that sucker!

Unfortunately, there was no way I could SHOW it to anyone I knew, family at least, as on the opposite page there was a photo exposition showing the many ways to have sex with FRUIT.. :)

BUT, Fortunately, that money kept my infant son in Many Diapers and Formula for a LONG time!

Wish I had the graphic to show folks, or even a page from the mag to scan in, but that was LONG ago, and they've all slipped away into the temporal abyss of moving too many times.

Now if I could just get him to look at the Book I've written, bet he'd love it.. hell, maybe I WILL. You never know until you try..

And it feels good to know when I'm watching the Larry Flynt film with Woody Harrelson in it, that I was actually a piece of that Puzzle. You know, we have both Falwell and LARRY FLYNT to THANK for taking Free Speech to Court and getting a RULING on it, don't forget THAT!

Strange world. Sleep tight Falwell, you sick bastard, I'm sure the devil will be busy trying to decide who's ass he wants to shove the Pineapple up today, YOURS or HITLERS :)

3. God, I couldn't even tell you what Month it was now
over 31 years ago! I think I found a copy of it around the house about a year ago, but it's all stuffed in storage now. I'd be surprised if it was online anywhere, tho I bet if I wrote them I could find out the issue, maybe get a tear sheet of it somehow..

It was fairly crude compared to my work now, long before photoshop, all done manually with a Xerox, cut and paste work.

But I'm pretty proud that I was at least a miniscule piece of that action, then when the movie came out, I was laughing a lot, realizing that somewhere in that mess was a little piece of me :)

If I ever find it, I'll post it, though in a week or so no one will give a shit about Falewell.. I don't care about him now :)

Thanks for looking!

2. Interesting, isn't it, how Falwell wound up causing some good things to happen
You got creative and got some money that was needed--and the satisfaction of being recognized and published nationally! And Flynt courageously was able to defend ALL our First Amendment rights. I would add that because of Falwell, People for the American Way was created by Norman Lear. So, despite himself, Falwell caused some good to happen.

6. I like the way Gandi put it
Paraphrasing: He basically said that EVIL is a FAD, that there is more GOOD in the world than the Evil that we see passing through it, and to think of it that way..

Good call, thanks for that :)

14. Gandhi
"Whenever I despair, I remember that the way of truth and love has always won. There may be tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they may seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it: always."

5. Very True
he touched a lot of Lives in a GOOD way, made people sit up and notice, and say, "Well, THIS SHIT AIN'T GONNA WORK FOR ME!" :)

I posted to a thread the other day here, where people were pitting one generation against another, that when the Fascists move it, Humanity BLOOMS.. better Music, art, community, etc.

It's why I wrote my book, it's TIME for it, something that will reach many generations, and hopefully get them off their asses and into the streets, or at least giving more of a shit about each other :)

Thanks for the input. Falwell may have done more good than his tiny hateful mind may have been capable of comprehending :)

I couldn't show the issue to my own mom, and she's no prude.. :)

10.  Someone has got to have a 'collection' of them somewhere
And might be willing to look it up for you. The young folks working for Flynt might not even know about it. Or at least, enough to remember it's there somewhere. It would be worth calling them up and asking if someone would be willing to do the research for you and get you a copy of it.

This sort of thing is worth a call. Since you know the money was used to buy nappys for the baby, you can narrow the search down to several issues. That will help alot!

Call them up on this one and ask who you should talk to. What department, etc. They should be able to give you a name and number of the person in charge of that.

12. Well
he was born in very late October of 86, and so it would probably be within 5 months or so of that date, maybe four.. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Christmas Issue, might be Sept, Oct, Nov - Jan..

It was in the Opinion pages, where they had little snippets of items of interest, been many years since I've even cracked a Hustler, didn't read it much in the first place, just wanted to do something Nice for Flynt since he'd done the battle for us all, then got MONEY for it. Like I said, blew me away, never expected him to print it :)

I don't suppose a few months worth of back issues would cost all that much, but who knows it they still supply from that far back.

I do have a phone number for an insider there, have to scrounge around for that, they might help, thanks for the ideas :)

17. I don't think that they
even bothered to include the "missionary position" :)

Like Falwell would know anything about that.. anyone that wanted to do him would have had to roll him around in FLOUR, and Look for the Wet Spot :)
