RNC has just $5m for final push (and we're concerned about losing?)
( I WILL NOT post the Politico link)

The troubled Republican National Committee has just over $5 million in the bank for the final stretch of the 2010 mid-term election campaign, according to an unannounced filing with the FEC disclosed Friday night.

The report also indicates that the national party headed by embattled chairman Michael Steele is carrying just over $2 million in debt.

There was no press release from the RNC attempting to put a positive spin on the grim numbers. Rather, officials from the Democratic National Committee flagged the RNC's report, which was posted on the Federal Election Commission’s website Friday night.

It indicated that the committee brought in slightly more than $5.5 million in July — less than half of what the DNC raised — while spending $11 million.

2. Yeah but the corporations have bottomless pockets.
And they will be putting all their money behind the Republican candidates. The national party doesn't need money now that the owners can step in and spend at will.

10. If that is true, then the corporations should have funded the GOP candidates much better...
...than anybody has funded the Democratic candidates. I would think that those funds would have shown up in the GOP candidates' accounts already. They need the money early to plan "media buys" and producing commericals. Heck, they need the money to hire staff.

23. A lot of people here just want to concede the election now
I am amazed at the attitude of some here. They think that all is lost because Karl Rove and a few dark agents are going to sabotage the elections. And without any evidence or links to prove me wrong, are POSITIVE the money is going to be secretly funneled to the Repuke candidates without anyone knowing.

Weak, weak and the Pukes take advantage of us because of this weakness.

The RNC will get the funding it needs. I have no doubt whatsoever.

Edit to say I meant the republicans will get the money they need.

Edited on Sun Aug-22-10 08:36 PM by DainBramaged
The Democrats keep outraising the Republicans across the board. And you think now, end of August, these mighty corporations are going to begin heavily donating with two months remaining to the election?

Why do we try?

30. Oh bullshit
I have merely pointed out that the RNC's bank account will not matter as much in this election. So have others in this thread.

I'm seeing it right here in my state, home of the Kochs, who think they can buy any election they want. We have several statewide candidates who are very well funded by our local corporate powers and a few getting money from national corporations.

It doesn't mean we are going to lose. It means we need to work harder. Knock on more doors, make more phone calls. That personal contact means much more than an ad or a bank account. I am giving two to three evenings a week to candidates. I am not doing that because I want the GOP to win.

Which in a nutshell, means you've conceded the election to them, in spite of your backtracking.

Here in red state hell, the money is going directly to candidates.

Brownback is convinced he is going to be our next governor. He has the Koch family (Americans for Prosperity) in his back pocket. And that might be enough to win him the election.

Candidates really can't afford to spend funds on that, if they are forced too, they can't pay for other aspects of their campaigns. This is not good for the GOP, not by any stretch.

31. The Republicans have been playing this same card for decades
Of course I have it figured out. I have a feeling I'm not the only one.

It's either abortion, gay marriage, or the evil Muslims. That's how they motivate their voters. Before the cold war ended, it was communism. (Still is for some voters. Hence, they call the president a communist.)

We need to motivate our voters too. Acknowledging an understanding of the opposition's game plan is not giving in or assuming they will win. It's smart politics.

And they are even worse because you don't even know who each group is and they don't have to tell you thanks to the Supreme Court ruling, whereas with official GOP ads at least you can put them on the spot for bad ads.

We are going to see super-well-funded ads like this:

"Did you know that Democratic Senator So-And-So is involved with a topless stripper? RIGHT IN HIS OWN BEDROOM? How do you think his WIFE feels about THAT? He CLAIMS it's his wife, that she merely gets undressed before she goes to bed, but a strange woman has been seen leaving his house! His maid? Nobody believes THAT! Last January his wife wasn't even THERE! She was on vacation in Acapulco with another man! She SAYS it was the hotel concierge serving her breakfast, but his shift doesn't start until 9 AM!!! Why does she get breakfast served to her???? Because she's a COMMUNIST SENATOR'S WIFE! Why is Democratic Senator So-And-So hiring a stripper maid!? Call Democratic Senator So-And-So and tie up all his phone lines NOW!!!!!!!!!!! This ad paid for by the Committee for Fair Elections."

~~~~~~~~~~~
"Democratic Senator So-And-So says he's in favor of the unemployed. BUT he has been employing an UNEMPLOYED person right in his OFFICE. ANOTHER GOVERNMENT HANDOUT instead of letting the man get a REAL job! Why should your tax dollars have to go to a government job for an UNEMPLOYED person in a COMMUNIST SENATOR'S OFFICE?????? Can't he get a REAL job? That's YOUR tax money he's spending on that unemployed person! And that unemployed person is from ARIZONA and has NOT presented his citizenship papers to the local police! WHY NOT????? Because he's an illegal alien!"
~~~~~~~~~~

"Democratic Senator So-And-So's wife burned the American flag! We have photos of that you will see very soon! THAT'S why Democratic Senator So-And-So has never supported a Constitutional amendment banning flag burning! And do you know why Democratic Senator So-And-So has never supported a Constitutional amendment against abortion? Because his wife is a bra-burner! We will be releasing photos of that TOO someday! Just look at how she's DRESSED! In frilly clothes so you can't tell! What's she HIDING????? Why is her clothing from FRANCE?????!!!!! Can't she buy AMERICAN????? Protect your CHILDREN!!!!!!!! Call Democratic Senator So-And-So right away to complain about his slutty wife! Why won't the media COVER this!? Because they are CONTROLLED by the communists! And if you vote for the Democrats the communists will TAKE OVER!!!!!!! Do you think these allegations are FALSE???? We have been telling you in ad after ad of HUNDREDS of such allegations!!!! If even 10% of these allegations are true, Democratic Senator So-And-So is a Chinese agent!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Democrats EVERYWHERE are rebelling against Harry Reid for passing so much legislation NOBODY WANTS! Remember. Election Day is November 26. On Election Day, whatever state you're in, it's time to PROTEST by STAYING HOME! BOYCOTT THIS WHOLE STINKIN' ELECTION! Paid for by Legitimate Democrats Against Harry Reid."
~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Democrats everywhere are trying to take away your gun rights and property rights. They want to take away your HOME. This amounts to an

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVICTION NOTICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On Election Day, get out of your house and VOTE REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sometimes they don't. Never makes a difference. They still strut around making the same brags and boasts, un-tied to reality of any kind.

Now that they run all the news organizations, the strutting and bragging has gotten louder and more ridiculous.

It means nothing except that they own the news.
