6. The Master of the Senate |

Was the third in his series, Caro that is. He's supposed to release one about the final phase, Vietnam, his presidency, up to his death to complete the fourth. I read the first two, and I'm about halfway through the third, sadly I've been there for a few years, just stopped. One of these days I'm going to get back to it.
Seriously though, the first two are not really necessary for what you state as your purpose, but nevertheless are interesting. He actually stated as early as 5 that he wanted to be president, for instance.

3. Robert Caro won the Pulitzer in 2003 after releasing his third volume of an LBJ biography. |

I haven't read them, but for sheer wordage, at three books worth, he would seem to win.

Caro's is the best, but I'm not sure why one would be interested in his post Presidency, because he just went back to the ranch to die.
